tarc (16), New Jersey, USA May 12, 2008 My bottle did not say "reserve". reddish brown pour that while not cloudy was not perfectly clear.thick but not large head.not very sweet for a malt, slgiht yeast smell but smooth finish. kegbear (14), Orange, California, USA May 10, 2008 Bottle-batch 70. Pours a copper hazey color with a lot of small bubbles. Thick light tan head with lacing. Malt and sweet chocolaty flavor with a bit of a dry finish. MrChopin (62), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2008 Pours transparent brown with long-lasting tan/white head, lots of lacing. Nose is caramel and nuts with some roasts, Flavor has a lot of roast and bready yeast, a little sour in the swallow, with smooth but noticeable palate. Straightforward dubbel, but enjoyable nonetheless.
ccoburn (18), Leawood, Kansas, USA May 7, 2008 Pours a dark rich mahogany with a slim and now almost gone except around the edges of the tulip glass white large bubbled head. Smells of dark nuts and apple or pear skins. Maybe some dark fruits as well. Very nice body in the mouth with well lively carbonation. NIce and chewy. Little milk chocolate hinting on the palate with some nice and dry dark malt flavor. Not too impressed, but a nice beer all the same jehoey (636), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 20, 2008 poured chestnust brown with a head of small white bubbles, which laced nicely on the glass. Aroma was delicate, but featured notes of cocoa, and an earthiness that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Flavor was alright, very dry, and earthy with some cocoa. Alsp had a weird hop note that was pretty citrussy. mouthfeel of fine bubbles and excellent digestibility. I was kind of diappointed overall because they flavor just wasn’t there, but not bad.
