buzzoven (66), Japan Jul 5, 2008 This one held some promise upon initial sips, but eventually just fell a bit flat. Taste is focused on the roasted elements...low in carbonation, slight malty backbone, subtle smoked chocolate flavours, but the mouthfeel is a bit thin and the balance just wasn’t quite hitting all the right buttons for me. I would drink it again, preferrably on a crisp autumn night. Crosling (1592), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jun 26, 2008 Dark brown with ruby edges. Long lasting, thin, very light tan head. Nose shows some oak chip character (in other words...fake, non-authentic wood, which shows only a touch of vanilla,) some herbal, citrus-like hops and a very light roast character. Flavor is very light in character and also light in body and palate. Flavor shows a light touch of vanilla from the oak chips. Not much malt character to speak of, maybe a touch of dark fruit and chocolate, but it’s such a stretch. Overall, this beer leaves a lot to be desired. smith4498 (241), Miami, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2008 Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. Slightly sweet and bitter with hints of chocolate and oak. Medium to full body with minimal carbonation and a dry, earthy finish. It was better than I was expecting which is always nice! radiomgb (1701), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jun 22, 2008 Black in colour, thin but initially large tan coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is very lightly roasty, lots of sugary sweetness, light coffee and some dark chocolate. The flavour was moderately sweet, coffee and chocolate, creamy, lightly burnt. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes lingering if a bit thin, some chocolate.
Seems to lack the body of some of the better oatmeal stouts, the sweetness became a distraction.
650ml bottle obtained in a trade with Beerlando, thanks Bryan.

thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 22, 2008 This bottled brew from Indianapolis poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body was semi opaque with a dark ruby red brown color and soft carbonation. The aroma contained notes of caramel and chocolate. The palate was thick with a medium hop aftertaste ans was mildly tingly from start to finish. It had a chocolate dark malt brown malt hop flavor which I found to be very yummy.
