Tap at Barcade: Copper pour topped by an off-white head. Nose has some caramel/crystal malt notes and a mild/sweet citrus note. The flavor as some soft caramel notes along with a nutty hint in the background. The finish is mildly bitter and has a hint of orangey fruitiness. A decent Bitter Ale.

1 pint draught, Barcade. Dark amber colour. Slightly cloudy. Soft malty flavours balanced by noble hops. Smooth flavours. Very nicely balanced. Malty.

draught at Hop Devil, New York. not as hoppy as expected, this was a fairly malty, pale amber, beer, with slight caramel flavour.

Sample at PCBF 08. Pours a translucent amber with a medium creamy/bubbly off white head. Aroma of nice grainy malts, biscuit, nuts, some honey and a touch of hops. The flavor was much of the same grainy maltiness/biscuit along with a nice touch of hop flavor and bitterness. REally like the malty nose on this one.

Coloring, aroma, and flavor are all spot on for the style. The buttery, biscuit flavor with an underlying nutty character, and lower carbonation make this easy and enjoyable to down. Lacing on the glass was above average. A nice, well made, ESB. The best I’ve had from Climax, for sure!
