sonsteng (5), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA does not count May 13, 2008 Dark / heavy beer. Certainly wasn’t one for a large meal. Really enjoyed it though. I’m not usually one for the darker beers. Taste is rich and smooth. Most certainly on the retry list. DandyWolfFloyd (147), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA May 12, 2008 Pretty nice! It’s aroma is of expresso, chocolate, and dark malts. It’s appearance is very dark, near black. It’s head is nice, but quickly disappearing. It’s flavor is nice, with some chocolate, dark malts, expresso, and roast. It’s rather pungent for a sweet stout, but it is bold and complex. Glad to have tried this one. polomagnifico (318), Saginaw, Michigan, USA May 11, 2008 Flavors of red wine, roasted malt. Aroma is much of the same. Dark brown hue with an average sized tan head. Medium bodied and watery soft. A crappy stout imho. ThaBobfather (88), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 11, 2008 Had a very interesting experience with this beer. After trying it and enjoying it’s malty aroma and deep black color. It was a very good stout but it leaves a bitter coffee taste in my mouth. I was impressed though. I ended up putting one of these in the freezer. When trying to open it the next day, I popped part of the cap and the beer proceeded to look like it was shitting itself. It was pretty funny. after4ever (1585), Brier, Washington, USA May 9, 2008 12-oz. Black. Thick, surging, gorgeously moussy burnt orangeish/tan head. Falls quickly to a slim slice of foam with intermittent lacing. Dusty, chocolatey, pruney nose--not a very strong nose, though. Medium, soft, slightly creamy body. Not much carb. Sweet, fruity, chocolatey mid-palate. Mild, clinging, sweet finish. Not super dimensional or unique, but very tasty and easy drinking.
