SpudClampDawg (898), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 7, 2008 12oz bottle: Pours a ruby orange with a finger thick head. A nice mix of sugary oranges and unsweetened cocoa meet the nose. This drinks nice and easy, offering a quiet mix of earthy malt, butterscotch and candy. Finishes a bit watery, but other than that, a nice little beer. Palidor19 (1194), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 24, 2008 Very pleasant drinking, with hard caramel malts and a toffee like consistancy. we makes for a decent drink. phishpond417 (1110), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 17, 2008 Pours a clear orange-amber colour with a small vanilla like head. Excellent retention. Dotted lacing, a soft nutty aroma with a particular almond scent on the nose. semi-sweet, smooth mouthfeel with a touch of hops in the finish. yemenmocha (15), Glendale, Arizona, USA Jun 6, 2008 Pours amber color with white head that recedes quickly.
Nose has some caramel and faint bourbon-like aromas.
Palate is caramelly malty sweet, thin bodied, highly carbonated, and finishes with an off-alcohol taste.
One of the least impressive winter beers I’ve ever sampled. bconger (37), Birmingham, Alabama, USA May 29, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper pour with a very thin head. Hops, caramel, and some yeast on the nose. Hoppy flavor up front with sour lemon and malty elements. This beer lacks backbone. There are nice high notes and the hops are decent, but it feels empty with too little middle-maltiness. Nice carbonation and mouthfeel, though.
