"This ain't your Dad's malt liquor" - Brewmaster John Maier After the death of his wife, Henry Jackson Smart was left to raise 6 young children alone. His courage, love, selflessness and dedication inspired his daughter, Sonora Smart Dodd, to organize the First Father's Day on June 19th, 1910. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Fathers Day. President Nixon, in 1972, established it as a permanent day of national observance. Dad's is brewed with Harrington and Klages malts, Flaked Corn, Crystal Hops, Free Range Coastal Water, and Czech Pils Yeast. Available in the spring of 2005 in the classic 22-ounce Rogue micropiece. Measurements: 17 degrees Plato, IBU 25, Apparent Attenuation 77, Lovibond 10 degrees.

THOUGHTS: I’ve had a lot of malt liquor in my day and this wasn’t much different, but it’s just a step or two better. Sort of in the same way that a DIPA is not all that much different from an IPA, but is usually way better. Hid alcohol well. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured clear, medium yellow (almost gold really) with nice carbonation and a small, white head that mostly diminished and left virtually no lacing. The aroma was moderate caramel malt, light grass hops and corn. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet, light to moderately acidic, lightly bitter and a little sour with an average duration. There was mostly caramel malt then a little grassy hops. The light to medium body was a little syrupy then dry with fairly soft carbonation and a light to moderate astringent finish.

Clear straw yellow pour. A bit fruit and lots of malt on the nose. Very innocuous flavorless beer. Very sweet with a corn syrup like flavor. Some fruitiness. Drinkable, but not much going on here.

Mildly sweet aroma. Dull gold with a slight red tint. Taste is lite but definitely has that malt liquor burn in your throat. This was much better than I thought it would be. However after all is said and done it is one expensive malt liquor.

Gold pour with a grain aroma and medium sized head. Had a corn and a barley noticable hop finish. EHHH I dunno.
