FishManLA (92), Louisiana, USA May 15, 2008 As pale lager’s go, this one isn’t bad. Typical pale lager yellow with slight and fizzy head. Nose of corn and wheat. Sweet, bitter, and tart taste with a club soda like carbonation. Taste of forced carbonation. Quenching. berkshire_john (870), Bracknell, England May 7, 2008 11.2 fl oz US export bottle from Plonkers, Friarsgate, Derby. Gold with a thick cream head; grassy hop aroma; creamy, grainy body with a touch of apple; sweet cardboard finish. Not bad, but hardly "Scotlands Finest". As I recall, this was an average pilsener. Hopdup (71), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 6, 2008 Pours a light yellow with a small white head, The smell of yeast, grass, skunk and maybe some spice. The taste is a little sharp, an uneventful beer Perm (121), Tryon, North Carolina, USA Apr 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Last time I had this beer was on draught in Scotland in 1999. It’s not as good as I remember it being then, but nevertheless ok as a generic Euro lager.
Appearance: Color of straw-gold in the glass. A thin head that sticks around, fairly transparent with a goodly amount of bubbles.
Nose: Grass. Mild floral hops. Chamomile, barley. Clearly a lager.
Taste: Mild and easy, like a cheap lover. A citrus twist, with a hint of some sort of tropical fruit like guava.
Palate: spritzy and smooth.
Overall: A nice beach vacation lager. Better than Grolsch. Not nearly as solid as my memory from ’99 in the motherland, but then again my palate has matured considerably since then (but I see other reviewers also hinting at a demise...). Good with brie and french bread.
