Imaena (145), Portland, Maine, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bottle Bangor 08’.
Deep amber/copper. Tan head that quickly faded with faint lacing. Tart grassy hops are present but restrained. Sourdough, carmel, slight spice. Well done overall. It was on discount so it must be a lot better in october. Ughsmash (2773), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear reddish-brown with a tall-ish cap of well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up brown sugar and nutmeg-laden toasty caramel malts with a dusting of leafy hoppage.. smelled quite nice. The flavor had more of that older caramel at the core with brown sugar and mild spicage.. light floral and leafy bitterness surrounded.. drier, prickly herbal notes on the finish. Medium-bodied and a bit sharp at times on the palate.. this was tasty, but I’d like to see how it is fresh. Papsoe (9656), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 21, 2008 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Hazy, deep amber golden with an off-white head. Very intense, sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a very, very solid malt, a whiff of flowers and a little caramel. Subdued bitterness but some alcohol is shining through in the finish. 210308 Ungstrup (10794), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 21, 2008 Bottled. A hazy dark golden (orangey) beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as a light touch of spices and honey. The flavor is sweet with notes of honey, malt, and caramel as well as light notes of bread, leading to a dry ans slightly bitter finish. More complex than your usual Oktoberfest. RblWthACoz (959), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 3, 2008 Pours a very foggy orange-ish brown. No head in my Duvel tulip. Nose is slightly leafy. Very little to it. Flavor is even and constant with a slow drop off. Profile has a obvious leafy thing going on. Beyond that it’s a very mild almost citric thing. More like the flavor of an orange with absolutely no sweetness from it. More like old almost dead orange outer skins. Okay. Enough typing out of my ass. Feel is decent. Low bubble hitting my tongue. Liquid is decent. Overall this is a very easy drinker. Nothing wild or crazy. Just a smooth and even brew. Worth a shot.
