Full aroma of chocolate malt, coffee and roast. Coffee, nutty and malty flavour, very big bodied. Lasting malt and coffee finish. There is enough hop, just enough to keep this from being cloying. pilsnerrogge (1791), Finspång, Sweden

The cask version of this beer is such a different and superior beast than in bottle form. Aroma leaps out of the glass and is pure espresso, I spent more time smelling, than actual drinking. Taste is wonderful roasted coffee with some bitter chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is thick with an oily texture, nice soft natural carbonation adds to the smoothness and drinkability. Nice bitter aftertaste. One of my top beer experiences so far. Padron4KM (403), Chandler, Arizona, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a black color with a nice brown head which leaves some lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by coffee, but there’s also chocolate, toffee, and light hints of vanilla, and some more coffee. Flavour is roasted, with lots of powerful coffee which dominates. Hints of vanilla, chocolate and fudge. Finishes bitter. Body is medium to full (not as full as for example "Beer Geek Brunch Weasel - though the slightly lighter body makes it very drinkable and nice), the texture is creamy, and the beer feels rather smooth, with a good carbonation. Very nice imperial coffee stout. godofsky (5), Montréal, Quebec, Canada does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 18, 2009 bottle. tasted out of snifter glass at near room temperature. pours a beautiful pitch black with a perfect brown mousse like head. aroma is of coffee, coffee and more coffee. the alcohol content is definately present in the aroma as well. flavour is sweet, followed by a perfect balance of bitterness. coffee dominates but roasted malts make their presence felt as well. nicely carbonated, and thick on the palate. overall this is an excellent imperial stout, one of my favorites. it is even better when served on tap at Dieu du Ciel. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 18, 2009 Black with a deep brown head. Powerful aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, with alcohol fumes burning the nostrils. Burnt malts, roasted malts, coffee, espresso, light vanilla, and dark chocolate round out the flavor. Body is a bit powdery. It finishes with intense bitterness from the burnt malts and dark chocolate. A very nice beer but I wish the finish was reigned in a little.
