Commercial Description:
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Incredible aroma! The coffee beans are really prominent. The color is really dark and the taste has the chocolate with a little bit of oatmeal in there as well. Not too overpowering either. Very enjoyable.

Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours blacky brown with a multi-finger dark tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and really toasted malt. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is coffee, smooth burnt malt, and chocolate. Per the label, I think this could be eaten with a spoon. If I had another bottle, I’d have oatmeal for breakfast and pour this over it. Great f***ing beer.

This beer has every type of malt you could possibly love in it for a stout. Sweet chocolate notes with bitterness from other chocolate blending in with the bitter flavor of the coffee. Oatmeal thrown in to smooth it all out. Delicious!

Bottle from my local. Black as night pour with a small khaki colored head. Some nice drippy lacing remains on the glass as I drain this one down. Coffee dominates this aroma, some nice chocolate malts and spice in the background. Big outstanding flavor...starts off as mostly roasted coffee beans and then notes of bitter chocolate emerge with the faint bite of alcohol in the finish. Mmmmm, breakfast of champions in my opinion.

12 oz. bottle. Strong aroma of coffee with light chocolate and a hint of vegetable spice. Flavor is of coffee beans, chocolate, and hazelnut with a distinct roasted character. Palate is thick. Thick finish with some extent of bitter chocolate and breakfast food (a slight sense of hot sauce and omelet). A complex flavor and a very good beer. It’s a rough n’ ready yet sophisticated waking meal. An anorexic would have this for breakfast.

Bottle. Pours and looks like motor oil, thick and black with a thin brown head. Smoky, coffee aroma is strong but not especially noteworthy. Flavor is unbelievably strong...Sweet chocolate coats the tongue for a second and then bursts into a huge hazelnut coffee flavor...a bitterness begins to develop and as the tongue reacts to the bitterness a second more roasted coffee taste dominates. Long aftertaste. I’ve never had a beer where multiple flavor stages were so distinct and perceptable but if you dont like coffee the flavor of this beer can wear out. Still Founders should be proud of the refinement of this beer.
