Commercial Description:
India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

Another old love returns: "You move through my dreams like a trout moves through a pool." This beer was, for several years, my favorite beer. It remains the best made beers that you can walk in off the street and buy a six of in most any liquor store. Pours a clear yellow orange under a half-inch head of white. Nose is big citrus and grape-NeHi hops with a little malt sweetness. First taste is piney resin hops and a quick hop-bitter bite. The citrus hop flavor jumps in quickly with a bitter bite modulated with malty sweetness. This beer works really well. Finish is dry with just a little lingering sweetness and the big pine hops lingering just long enough. Very solid beer.

On tap @ Papago for the Bells launch party. Pour is orange-gold with an off-white head. Aroma shows freshly baked bread, pink grapefruit, peach, pine, and an amazing amount of perfume. Flavor shows the same with a touch of caramel. The guy who recently rated this a 1 and proceeded to bash others for their use of the word "balanced", really needs to reevaluate his own palate. An IPA doesn’t need to strip the enamel off your teeth in order to be successful. This one is obviously geared more into the floral hops rather than bittering. Still a killer, nicely balanced IPA. Overall body is moderate and oily, with a moderate finish.

This ale poured a clear yellow colour with a creamy, off white head. To the nose there are scents of bread, grain, dough, hopps, juniper, spruce and butter??? First taste is smooth as silk with a nice creamy mouthfeel. By the smell I figured a hopp-heads dream but not so. Flavours of hopps, citrus, grass and butter. Finish is slightly bitter with hopps lingering through the palate.

On tap. Golden orange with creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma with mild hoppiness. Taste nice and citrus with a little spicy hoppiness. Bitterness extremely smooth and complements the malt very well. About as good and drinkable as it gets!

Bakery fresh aroma and a lovely dark amber pour. The massive hops die a bit in the aftertaste making this actually refreshing. Malty and bitter with a bit of a watery backdrop. Bells is one of my favorite American brewers. Quite nice.

Bottle. Medium to deep gold color with a thick, nice head. Rich malt and fruit nose, a bit metallic. Very fruity flavor with cherry and big citrus hops. Very piney and peppery. Bitter finish. Nice stuff, but maybe not in its best condition. At least 6 months old.

The beer pours a medium dark amber color. This is a very good IPA. The taste is a spirited citrus. There is mild carbonation present and a very subtle malt base. It is a very smooth IPA.
