KingpinIPA (789), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 6, 2008 2 hand bottles from Ty5592. Dark color. Smell of chocolate, pine, caramel, coffee, nuts, cake, alcohol and dark fruit. Taste of chocolate, pine, hops, malt, caramel, alcohol, nuts, dark fruit, roasted coffee and brown sugar. Wonderful hand bottle job. Must be even better on tap! xmarcnolanx (574), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Jul 2, 2008 Backlog:
Okay, so I’ve had a few bottles of this, and I can’t say that I am amazingly impressed by the 2008 release of this beer.
Aroma is coffee with some chocolate, rich and decadent.
Taste is more coffee and sweet chocolate with some ripe red fruit.
I don’t know what it is, but something feels lacking. *frown*
I need to try this on draft. Miver (269), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2008 On draft at Capones. Poured black with a medium sized brown head. Aroma of coffee and sweet chocolate. Tastes of fresh roasted coffee, nice sweet chocolate with a creamy mouth feel and great body. The alcohol is hidden quite well and from the 1st sip to the last of it, this was everything I was hoping it could be. stegosaurus (1883), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2008 On draft @ Capones with Mad_indian. Pours deepbrown, almost black with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate malts, roast, coffee, and alcohol. The flavor is smooth, sweet chocolate, roast, coffee, and and good alcohol presence (but well masked). Excellent body and mouthfeel. Great brew. Mad_Indian (797), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2008 On tap at Capones sampled with Stegosaurus . Ok this was the show stopper. Everything I love about Imperial stouts Coffee, roast malt, chocolate and alcohol all blended together perfectly. Best beer of the night.
