Feb 10, 2009 2005 bottle. Pours reddish amber with a small white head. Strong bourbon and oak aroma, with some vanilla highlights. Aroma is very enticing. Flavor is toffee, vanilla and fig at first, but is quickly overtaken and dominated by oak, bourbon and alcohol. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Oak lingers for a long finish. The aroma got my hopes up, but ultimately this beer disappointed.

Jan 11, 2009 Nice amber coloured body with a huge ruby coloured tint. Aroma of strong oak, bad funky malt and strong vanilla. Medium-bodied; Strong bad taste of malt, alcohol, vanilla and vomit. Aftertaste is that bad throw-up flavour with some vanilla, strong sweetness and some malt. Overall, this beer was absolutely horrible. I can’t believe I spent nearly $10 on this piece of crap, but I guess its all worth trying. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 04-January-2006.

Jan 7, 2009 Really not too bad in spite of our prejudice. This is the 2005 version. Called on the label a "dark" beer and I guess it’s darker than a pilsner, buttttt... Aroma is vanilla and a hint of spice and malt. Flavor is a little too sweet and too vanilla, but there’s a real nice bourbon characteristic that comes thru in the finish. Can’t sense the booze at all. Not a session beer.

Jan 6, 2009 7 oz Bottle (2005?). Strong vanilla aroma, sweet like frosting. Cloudy, murky brown with no head. Tastes like vanilla-flavored water, intensely vanilla with no sense of balance. Sugary, sort of disgusting. Nearly uncarbonated, thin and offensive.

Aug 28, 2008 This shit is good. it pours cloudy and murky, but the flavor is mildly sweet and not offensive. I appreciate the simplified flavor that actually is quite pleasant. The head leaves after a few minutes and long legs lace the glass as you imbibe. Recommended.

Aug 8, 2008 Sweet and artificial, tastes like cheap French oak staves microfilitered through the tank. Sweet vanilla, cotton candy, saltwater taffy and a graham cracker maltiness. Not very good at all. Tastes way too artificial and fake all the way through.

Jul 20, 2008 Purchased a 750 for Christmas two years back. Smells of vanilla and caramel. Tastes very much the same, with a decent oak flavor to it. Of all the Michelob products I’ve had, this is on the top. I hope that they bring it back at some point.
