| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 28, 2009 08 bottle. pours a nice ’black ruby’ red color with a really nice yellow head with good retention, awesome lacing, very creamy, signature head. aroma is dominated by the signature doughy yeast, which i happen to love. but its a nice warm aroma with plenty of nice hops and tons of hearty sweet roasting malts! taste is very balanced, warming nicely with the malts and viscous body, then a tiny alcohol bite lending perfectly to it. nice warmer, great mountain beer if you board(besides the bottle of course! lol!). this beer has the signature alesmith yeast, i think it’s the conditioning yeast they use. it has the same ’signature’ doughy aroma, head, etc. of the ipa, x, summersmith, etc. a damn goodyeast, and it hasn’t worn out its velvety welcome on my palate yet, not by a long shot! | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Bomber served in a tulip. Pours amber-brown with a good-sized tan head. The AleSmith IPA pine and citrus nose is there with considerable maltiness for support. Medium-full body with considerable malt backbone. Long finish with the malts, hops, and some alcohol on display. This is a terrific winter brew, near the top of my list overall. popery (165), San Francisco, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2009 It’s a joy to find either version of YuleSmith at the store. The Winter has a bit more caramel sweetness but is still wonderfully dry as are the best DIPAs. The beer is simply chock-full of an incredible juicy hop goodness. It’s an incredible mix of citric and floral hop flavors and scents. It’s a magnificent creation. I continue to worship at the altar of AleSmith. RPKLove (12), Astoria, New York, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 15, 2009 The best beer I’ve had to date. My bottle was aged one year.Has a hazy, dark-amber appearance. Aroma is extra malty with a little bit of hops. Taste is full of hops and malts, so much so that the dry, smooth finish comes as a surprise. This is not overbearing just sensational. Sigmund (2280), Hafrsfjord, Norway
