Flavor is cherry, pitty, tannic, wine-like, nicely sour but not too puckering, slight aceto, slight slick sweetness, and some cherry pie bacterial character- slight leather and earth. pretty good overall. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 29, 2009 Large sample at GABF 2009. Met the NxNW crew there while "pre-gaming" at Great Divide. Good guys, big drinkers. This beer is cloudy reddish-brown in color with a medium light pink head. Aroma is intense tart cherries, spices, and a little sweet caramel. Flavor is incredible and somewhat reminiscent of New Glarus’ fruit beers: fairly sweet, although there is also the sour/vinegary aspect that you expect in a Flemish sour. Sweet and tart cherries really explode in your mouth, and there are also hints of oak and spices. Palate is nice and sharp with medium body and prickly carbonation. Great beer! Nose is sour and medicinal with notes of cherry pit, bandage, and caulk. Unexpected sweet cherry flavors with not much in the way of what was exhibited in the nose. Just sweet cherry/sno-cone stuff...maybe, just maybe you can detect some of that bandage in the finish..but not enough. zizzybalubba (405), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA

Pours a red hue with a huge powerful pink head. The aroma was great; smooth cherries, sourness and tart fruit. The flavor was superb; tart cherries dance around on your palate with a almost equally strong sweet fruity flavor and richness. Awesome. What a gem.
