Commercial Description:
This is a Wee Heavy that one of our brewers has been working on for a couple of years and the final results are well worth the wait. The color is deep ruby on its way to black with bright clarity (especially considering it is unfiltered) and a thick, tan head. It has a nose of Irish coffee with hints of peat. The body is sweet and creamy--not thin, not heavy. Almost refreshing, if a beer this big can be described as such. Caramel malt, smoke, coffee and orange come in and out of focus several times as the beer moves across the palate, then it finishes with a light spiciness. We again used our St. Arnold yeast which added a nice layer of complexity to this already multifaceted beer. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer.

Full bodied, dark smooth, and sweet as hell. I love scotch ale and this is probably the best I have tasted so far.

Clear amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, dry - fruit, oak, alcohol, peat - whisky. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to ’medium to full’, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (130608)

Bottle sampled at RBSG ’08. Pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a medium thick, tan head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty yet roasty with slight notes of coffee and dark fruits. Medium to full boided and smooth.

Thanks to AMC3000 for the bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small light tan head that diminsihes quickly and leaves a ring of head around the glass. The aroma is a sweet caramel malt with dark fruits. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is roasted malt with coffee and spicy finish. Waited a long time for this beer and was definitely worth the wait. An impressive Scotch Ale from Saint Arnold.

Bottle courtesy of mar. Pours dark brown/black with no head. Aroma of molassas, peat and smoke. Flavor is similar, molassas, ash and roasted malts. I like it.
