Bottle:   Pours black, very deep and very 20W50, moderate foamy light brown head, a few rings of lacing.   Big dark pitted fruit nose that is equally matched with roasted malts.   Seems somewhat sweet.   Big raisin/fig/date presense, along with a good dose of chocolate.   Smells pretty damn good actually.   Oh man... smooth chocolate malts on the tongue, raisins, figs, dates... not biting, but instead slightly sweet in its chocolate/cocoa presence, with an adaquate amount of figs/dates/raisins to make this one really f*ing interesting.   Sooooo smooth... this is one of the easiest drinking Imperial Stouts I have had.   Has a subtle lactose like sweetness that just compliments it very well.   Its like a friggen sessionable Imperial Stout.   At 8.5% its fairly well hidden.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, yet very smooth.   Not as heavy or viscous as others, but what malts it has it is applied very well.   Finishe yields slightly more on the hop site, starts to warm the throat a bit.   Cocoa and dates become more apparent as it warms.   The nose, start, and finish of this beer are wonderful.   Well balanced, clean finish.   I wished I had more of this to share amongst my kronies.   Mucho thanks to John (AKA jjpm74) for this wonderful brew!

2009 bottle. Pours a deep brown color with a creamy tan head. Nose is chocolate with roast, lactose and cream. Palate is silky smooth, with a light bitterness, then a rich and creamy finish. Flavors are chocolate and fudgey with some milky notes and a silky finish.

2009 Bottle. Pours a deep dark black body with very fine dark brown head. Nose of chalky cocoa, roasty malts and a touch of molasses. This beer is so delicate on the palate, just a hint of alcohol soak and strong heavy malts holding everything together. The Flavors are of dark roasted malts, some smoke, baking cocoa and a touch of espresso. Great balance, and strong emergence of chocolate and espresso as the beer warms. Great beer.

Bottle. From my first trade with Cletus, so thanks to him. So much trouble to get this, but it IS worth it. Nose is sweet roasted malt, mild booze, dark preserved fruit; prunes and figs, plus light smoke and mild choco-mocha. Palate is raisinettes, plus ash and bitter coffee. Solid, but doesn’t quite wow me.

i’ve been waiting for this for a long time. 2008 vintage. pours as black as space with no light shining through. thick and oily with just a skimming of creamy tan head. aroma is just oozing milk chocolate and sweet malts. drinks very smooth and easy with creamy chocolate and very mild semisweet coffee. rich roasted malts and sweet chocolate finish. alcohol is there but only adds to this amazing brew. one of the best stouts i have ever had.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt as well as some soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and alcohol, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

2008 Bottle. Dark oil black pour, a little dark brown carbonation and a wonderful rich dark chocolate, vanilla and slightly smoky aroma. Flavor is a good amount of peat, some bitter chocolate, coffee and finishes smoky and silky. Very well done and well balanced beer. One of the best imperial stouts? No, but worth a try if you don’t have to trade something rare
