Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU

Half liter pours deep dark void with impressive mocha head. The aroma has rich chocolate mingling with some of sweet rich dark fruitiness as well as lesser notes of caramel malts, a bit of malt roastiness and black licorice. The taste begins smooth and almost creamy yet ushering in a quick hit of black licorice, rich dark fruitiness and highly roasted malts. It then picks up some chocolate and a touch of caramel malts. I get mild chocolate, some prune notes and near robust levels of black licorice and burnt malts taking this into the finish and deep into the after taste. Yummy brew with no sense of the abv.

Pours pitch black with a small creamy tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and some fruits. Taste is impressively dark with a lot of coffee. Very bitter finish with again quite some coffee. Very nice, well balanced beer.

In the bottle at Phil and Bernie’s holiday stout tasting. Pours black with a thin to no head. A sweet chocolate aroma. The beer is strong and smoky. Also very musty. The body is medium thick. It has a mild coffee roastedness. An ok stout but not great.

This poured a very dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma lots of bittering hops, maybe some cascades or centennials, and lots of roast. Flavor was very bold upfront hops for a stout but with a thick chewy maltiness in the finish. Lots of bitterness here between the roasted coffee notes and the hops, hides the alcohol well too.

Bottle, shared with friend at home, 2009-12-18, Gøteborg AR: roasted coffey beans, bitter chocolate AP: darkbrown, heavenlyhead - creamy like chocolate pudding F. heavy bitterness, roasted coffey beans, bitter cholcolate - to bitter for my parlour at the moment - really hurting the stomach! The left overs from yesterday are as strong as the day before!

Pitch black with a nice medium red-brown head. Nose is intens with expresso, coffee liquor, dark chocolat and roated malts. Very complex palate: bitter hop tones, apricot brandy, bayleaves, toffee, soft cream. Finish is dry and heartwarming. Love it. Can’t wait to get my hands on another bottle.

What a great easy to drink stout. Nice chocolate finish and just smooth enough to make this one desirable to want another bottle. This one ended up being a surprise. Easy drink ability and virtually no alcohol present actually hid any from it’s 10% claim. Another fine product from this little known Denmark brewery!
