TeamTrappist (115), jericho, New York, USA Jul 4, 2008 750ml Bottle. Poured a deep brown with a thin beige head. The nose had a strong raisin and sweet scent. A big thick mouthfull followed. If Judgement Day was dessert, this was dinner.Carbonation was light. The raisins come through, but not too much of the sweetness. Almost had some hints of stout in it. Also tasted some caramel and burnt sugar, but the 10% was very well hidden, with just a light bite at the finish. jcwattsrugger (3724), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 30, 2008 750ml bottle @Joe’s NYC Gathering–pours a rich thin tan head that laces with color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-almost molasses/caramel, dark fruit. Taste is sweet medium malt-almost molasses/caramel, dark fruit-some tart. Mild/minimal carbonation, smooth understated and enjoyable. sleepylopes (231), New York, USA Jun 23, 2008 comes on strong with raisins, fig and sugared dates. simple spice and some more exotic fruits on the palate. a bit sweet. maybe sazz hops? it was great but the brett was a little less present that i would have liked given all the strong fruit sugars. BuckeyeSammy (319), New York City, New York, USA Jun 22, 2008 Tasting at JoeMcphee’s. Loved to see that someone had brought this beer to the tasting, tough to find Lost Abbey on the east coast. Brown color, darker and and murky. Dark fruit, raisons, dates, spice, chocolate notes. Eyedrinkale (3076), Beer Town, New York, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle. Aroma is chocolate and nuts. Flavor is really spicy with peanuts, ginger and cocoa. I get some ripe fruits, like tangerine and papaya. Super complex with a prickly mouthfeel.
