Commercial Description:
Bottle & cask; Special.
NOTE: Marked batch 005 on the bottle label. Matured in a Glen Moray 1992 cask although this is not detailed on the label.
This edition sees our Imperial Stout aged for several months in specially selected Speyside malt whisky casks. This maturation process results in the whisky flavours and aromas being infused deep into our beer.

Cask at Nicholson’s in Cincinnati. Pours black with a very small tan head that leaves only a small rim of bubbles around the inside of the glass. Snifter. The barrel aging is nice here, and the Scotch barrel appears to be more gentle than a bourbon barrel. Aroma of vanilla, oak, dark chocolate, molasses, Scotch, and dark fruit. Flavor of molasses, chocolate malt, dark fruits, nuts, oak, vanilla, and Scotch to warm it. Full bodied. Really nice creamy mouthfeel, silky smooth- probably even more so because of the cask. Impressive restraint for a barrel-aged beer, but there’s still plenty to love about this one.

Oh my. Thin tan head that settles out quickly, lace is fair. Almost black. Nose is soft with whisky and smokey wood. Body is medium, slick and oily. Whiskey notes dominate with the stout flavors playing second, third and fourth fiddle, some roast coming through, light chocolate as well. Nice whisky flavors though. Keeps ya interested. Roasty, smokey finish, lightly sweet and interesting, woodsy. Makes ya wanna be by a campfire, yup. Eat meat! Bottle procured @statelineliquors.

Near black, thin tan head, no lacing. Aroma is sweet, lots of chocolate, light alcohol, some roast. Flavour is fairly hot, light chocolate roast, pretty sweet. Warm mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. Finishes a little thin, pretty hot.

Hot and thin, uneventful.

330ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

Thanks to Immy for this! Black pour with a thin beige head. Aroma is whiskey, oaky tannins and chocolate. Flavor follows suite. With a big warming finish. A little alcoholic but thats a good thing in the cold weather

Bottle at home. Black, no head. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, roasted, notes of wood, light spicy). Flavor moderate sweet. Body full, smooth and round, the alcohol is well hidden.

You actually get the peat in this one. It was a bit of a shock at first. On second sip, it starts to meld nicely with the cocoa and makes for a nice beer.

23rd August 2008. Strong but smooth whiskey dominates and produces a notably hot finish. The chocolate and coffee support all the whiskey very well. Unapologetically a whiskey beer!

0.33l - Black liquid under fleeting tan head. Very mild nose, good stout with a hop prickle on tongue. Good.
