Pours a dark brown red with a thick billowy light tan head. Aroma is spicy as hell, tons of clove and dark fruits, some yeast and banana. Definitely some candi sugar apparent along the good biscuity malts. Flavor starts with some strong dark fruits, getting slightly zesty and borderline citric. The spice continues to show strongly and in the swallow some booze and tobacco comes out. Medium body and a sharper carbonation. Very interesting beer, lots of stuff going on, kinda boozy but pretty good Rciesla (3880), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Bottle and served in my Unibroue tulip: Brown hued with amber highlights topped by an initial frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of dark candi syrup, raisins, fig, plum, toasty and biscuity malts, earthy and woody esters with a touch of smoke and mint. Most of the hops have faded but there is some resiny and spicy vapours still around. The taste is malty, syrupy and fruity with a herbal, boozy and dusty finish. A tad oxidized but it works within the framework of the profile., a touch salty too. The mouth feel is lively and the aggressive, chalky finish with moderate warming. Overall a solid brew that is sort of like a abt/quad light. With the oxidization coming on, this is not much longer for aging. Drink now. mcberko (177), British Columbia, Canada

One finger of soft but sturdy tan head recedes to about 1/4" and stays. Deep malty aroma of brown sugar and red wine. Soft, smooth mouthfeel, lightly dryish on the back end. Lovely. Rich flavor of brown sugar, red wine and chocolate with a bit of alcohol burn toward the finish. I dug this.
