1FastSTi (2355), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Jul 14, 2008 Thanks Jason for sharing this tiny 187 mL bottle. The beer pours to a clean dark amber body with no head. The beer is nice and glassy. The aroma is lightly sour brown ale with subtle dark rye malts. Complex aromas of wild yeasts. The flavor is a tart brown ale with some nutty malts (walnut) and sour wild yeasts. Complex cherry and other fruit flavors. The palate is medium bodied with a tart flavor and nice texture. Ughsmash (2814), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 13, 2008 Thanks go to Steve for sending this my way! Poured clear lighter copper with no head or otherwise perceptible carbonation. The aroma picked up tart aged caramel and semi-sweet chocolate paired with sour cherry vinegar and oak surrounding (and taking over as the drink progressed).. the yeasties really worked their magic as there was a fine level of entirely complimentary funk. The flavor found tart cherry skins and charred wood with ample funk.. sweeter caramel at the core.. the back-end had moderate berry and vinegar sourness (a huge dose would’ve thrown this off balance).. mighty tasty! Light-bodied and funky on the palate.. really dried out the palate in a careful and calculated way.. I would love to drink more of this! drewbeerme (1711), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 13, 2008 nip bottle thanks to ughsmash for sharing! pours amber with no head. nose is acidic and bretty, sour cherry, touch fo malt. flavor is slightly acidic, bretty, cherry, caramel, some bourbon, nicely tart finish. medium body. nice brew. Ethereal (723), London, Greater London, England Jul 2, 2008 Sampled at Chris_O’s 19th April 2008 tasting, courtesy of Phil_L. Now, I’m not normally a fan of sour ales, but this is something else. Flat, dark copper appearance with a complex aroma that manages to be both tart and sweet. On the tongue, you get the woody, malty mild taste and then a perfectly controlled fruity tartness comes through. Great balance and weight. I feel privileged to have tried this. wetherel (883), Carlsbad, California, USA Jun 20, 2008 6oz hand bottle from AgentSteve. Tasted at WeeHeavySDs place. Acetic sour and malty aroma. Reminiscent of La Folie (which I like a tad bit more). No carbonation. Brown color. Easy to drink. Sourness is mild, unless you hold it in your mouth then it drys your tongue.
