Huge thanks to Papsoe for this very special bottle. Pours deep black, completely still but for a very small rim of tan that clings to the edge of the snifter. The aroma is not what I expected, mostly lots of fruit. The taste is much more what I figured I was into, lots of things going on at first, but eventually resolves to a very smooth roasted coffee with a touch of chocolaty sweetness that keeps building for a few seconds before subsiding. Extremely smooth, glad I got a chance to try this one.

Bottled. Dark, rich in colour, no head. Nose of coffee, chocholate, a bit woody. Tastes as it smells. Nice with a bit of chocholatecake.

Bottled. A really small one. The aroma is chewy peanut, dark rum, with kind of a crunchy, plummy, roasty note to it. Not one dimensional but not especially complex either. Disappointing mouthfeel, sugary and boozy without much heft to it. Little flavor until the finish, where it seems to cram everything all into one massive hit. Tons of alcohol burn. Not great. The kind of beer that would get little recognition if you stuck some random American brewer name on it.

Bottle from Enjoyit, bottle shop in Denmark, Pours opaque black, a little head. Understated carbonation, this is now aged. Above average mouthfeel, much coffee, much over the chocolate.Very pleasant and coffee liquor like, much more bitter than sweet made for the Danish market. Worth the trip over.

(bottle, thanks Brad and Eben!) Pours black with no head whatsoever. Aroma right off the bat is an unmistakable scent of pet food, like the dried kibbles you’d feed your dog or cat. None too pleasant. Aside from that oddity, there are the usual suspects found in these Scan. Stouts: green bell pepper, smoke, and coffee which never meshes well. The taste was considerably better with some evenly roasted coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. The balanced roast is surprising because the smell had indicated this would be an astringent mess. Mouthfeel is full and thick with a long, nicely roasted malt finish. Would be ok, just get rid of the pet food.

Pitch black pour with almost no head. Strong sweet and roasty malt aroma, ashy, charred, touch of bell pepper, touch of coffee. Flavor is pretty hot, chocolate, coffee, super deep and roasty. Dry and bittersweet finish. Pet food. Why oh why do you have to find all these odd flavors Andy?

Nip bottle courtesy of Brad and Eben. Charred marshmallow and grease initially on the nose. Motor oil. Stale coffee soaked wood. Alcohol, char and warmed up motor engine. Pours a flat, oily black. Flavor has lots of grease, chocolate, stale coffee, watered down melted chocolate. Liquorice, anise and char. Flabby, greasy, oily and slick body. Who knew that a beer could taste like like a car engine smells? Further evidence that I really don’t like these N. European Imperial Stouts.

Shared @ DDG release party. Dark brown to black with red tints. Tan ring. Not much carbonation at all. Nose is dark chocolate/cocoa and richly roasted malt. Taste is a solid mouthfull. Bitter and sweet. Coffee and dark chocolate. The sweetness lingers to a bitter smack at the finish. Liked it a lot.
