timsilvia32 (35), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Jul 4, 2008 Always reliable Sam Smith. Pours a black/brown, light tan colored head. Smells of a slightly overcooked oatmeal cookie. Nice roast coffee and chocolatey tones. Just enough carbonation. Warms very well. FunkyBrewster (83), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 1, 2008 Pours a dark brown almost black with a thick creamy head. Aroma is sweet and malty but has some fruity notes. Flavor very sweet and creamy. Very bready in the start but has some fruit tartness in the finish. Full bodied and thick, it sticks the whole way down to a nice bitter finish. A great example of an oatmeal stout that isn’t too overwhelming. CheersBabe (46), USA Jun 29, 2008 Dark, opaque color. Tastes of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Also a bit creamy. Flavor sticks to the palate after you drink it (which I do enjoy). It ends a little bitter for and oatmeal stout. Overall and excellent beer, I would encourage everyone to try it. Mutual_aid (78), Texas, USA Jun 28, 2008 Pours dark as black coffee with a big creamy head that doesn’t want to quit. Aromas of espresso, brown sugar, and nuts with a hint of dry foliage(!); hops are not terribly assertive here. Bold, dark malts like burnt caramel up front followed by definite toast flavors. Palate is balanced between sweet malts and roasted malt bitterness. Very smooth texture and full body. Long, clean finish. Probably best consumed between 55-60 F. subcell (94), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Jun 28, 2008 Very nice beer. I had a bottle of the Imperial stout before this one and it was awesome. This beer pored nicely and smelled nice as well. The taste was very nice. It didn’t have the burnt flavor I expected. Highly recommended for fans of stout.
