Bottle. Pours near black with a thin beige and bubbly head. Scotch and roasted malts up front in the aroma with some sweet dark chocolate notes. The flavor is smooth and restrained, light roasted malts, scotch, a bit of a dried fruit sweetness, and dark chocolate, followed by a nice roasty finish.

(Bottle from Alko Arkadia) Poured almos black with light brown, sparse and bubbly head. Aroma contained roastedness, some coffee and whisky. Full bodied and dry palate with quite low carbonation. Flavours were roastedness, coffee, ash, lightly whisky, some creaminess and low bitterness. Aftertaste contained ash, bitterness and whisky.

Finally found this bastard, i love Mccallan single malts. Pours a dark bruen body with an off white head. Malty peat wooden whiskey notes, light vinous sherry cask accents like cherry infused wood. Mild chocolate cherry warming, good shit.

8th September 2008. Slightly marmite nose. Roasty malt and a little marmite in the start. Smooth and a little spirity with a subtle sweet undertone. The sherry influence is not at all obvious, more’s the shame!

Bottle from Binnys. Pours hard black with slight brown edge and quickly fading beige head. Nose is relatively faint with some dark malts and chocolate underneath delightful scotch barrel. Taste is a smooth, creamy, barrel flavor dream come true. Again lots of dark malt, roastiness and chocolate, but the main event in this one is the wonderful scotch characteristic. Some vanilla and oak poke through as well with a slight smoke/peat hint also. This imperial stout recipe would be good on it’s own, but aged in my favorite single malt barrel....bliss. So glad I picked up a second bottle.

Pours brownish black with a small tan head that’s bubbly and lacy. Aroma of toffee, wood, vanilla, salt water, peat-smoke, leaves, and coffee. Pretty nice on the nose. Taste is pretty sweet with vanilla, wood, toffee, hazelnut, peaty smoke, chocolate, and a slight raisin note. The finish dries things out with coffee, wood, raisin, charred smoke, and vanilla/hazelnut. Bitterness is present, but flavorful. Medium bodied but not lacking in flavor (I thought the Isle of Arran batch was). Definitely a healthy marriage of whisky and beer.

Tap at blind tiger. Poured a blackish brown. Nose was way smokey. This gets better as it warms when all of the flavors pop out. Smokey and Peety with deep oak flavors. This is not for the faint of heart. Deep charcoal notes. It’s the type of beer you either love or hate. I loved it

Pours dark brown, thin mahoganny head. Aroma is malty, grainy with hints of fresh sherry, vanilla, chocolate. Flavor, wood/cask, whiskey, light roasted malts, some tobacco / char flavor, reminiscent of other Paradox beers. Light sherry palate with hints of raisin/wine, wood/cask add . Vanilla followed by a nice alcohol warming mouthfeel. The sherry is not over pronounced but gets easily picked up after the second sip. Finish has some thin sherry notes mixed with possible chocolate bitterness. Tasty.
