Commercial Description:
The Irish Red Ale is an all-malt ale brewed with toasted caramel malt to naturally produce its signature red color. Its fruity nose and initial malt sweetness is a classic interpretation of the style.

Light chestnut color with hints of rudy when held to the light. Somewhat fizzy taupe colored head. Caramel, toffee, and doughy whole grain bread in the aromas. There is a perfume scent that is sweet and a bit annoying as well. Far too sweet smelling for the style. Sweet sugary start that clings on through and into the linger. Touch of grain in the finish and just a hint of bitterness late as well. Sweet, but not cloying, so it’s got that going for it, but that is not much. Not much of an irish ale in my book.

Pours reddish amber with a thin white head. Aroma is malt some caramel, fruit and nuts. Flavor is kind of hoppy, caramel, some sweet fruit and nuts. Dry finish, very drinkable. Good for a Michelob beer.

Bottle. Pours a nice dark amber with red hues when held up to the light. It has a smally lingering white head. Aroma is sweetmalts, Notes of caramel, dark fruit, and walnut come out. On the palate, it is a bit light for an Irish red. The flavor is a bit sweetier than I expected, but it a good way. It finishes rather dry. Pretty good beer, esspecially for a Macro. Very sessionable.

Nice attempt from a beer company I do not like. They are however striving for a better beer and I can totally respect that. Not Bad

12oz bottle from Shaw’s. Pours a dark red copper body with a thin film of light tan head. Smells fruity, nutty, with some caramel. Nut and caramel jump out of the flavor, with a fair bit of a fruity sweetness. Medium in body with moderate body, and easy drinking. Nothing stellar, but a solid example of the style, tasty and drinkable. A good brew.

Well it does in fact start malty sweet and fade to a dry finish, as they claim, but the dry finish is too much; it really knocks you over. The aroma is malty and sweet with touches of cinnamon. Nice head and great color!

8/12/09 from 12oz bottle. Aroma is all malt with a sweet/sour caramel note balanced by a black pepper background. Appearance is faintly hazy copper with a very well maintained cream colored head. Flavor matches well with aroma, with a slight earthy addition added to the maltiness and low bittering.Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a seemingly low carb feel that still lingers on the tongue. Overall, not bad, but could be a bit richer.

Glassy red (or dark orange). Some root beer-like head. The color of a lava lamp. Sweet roasted malt, not really bitter. Nutty, kinda like a roasted brown. Only slightly sweet. Roasted malt of a Smithwicks with a Guinness. A tiny bitter Irish bite. Slightly sweet, akin to the sweetness of an Oktoberfest. Some nice roasted malts (more bitter with warmth). Nutty and not overly bitter. Milky but a little bubbly fizzy. Some nice bite. A solid, slightly bitter, slightly sweet Irish ale. A nutty red ale.
