RateBeer.com -- Correct Max AbbeyMax Abbey

Description:
Max Abbey is a Belgian style Dubble. It uses almost twice the malt of our standard beers, producing a nut-like malt flavor, Additions of dark Candi sugar increases the gravity and color of the beer and gives a sweet finish. What really gives the beer its unique flavor is the special yeast used. I "borrowed" some yeast that is used at one of the Trappist Abbeys. It gives Max Abbey its "spicy" character. Kent Golding hops were used sparingly to bitter and finish the beer. Body is FULL! Color a deep amber. Served unfiltered. Max Abbey is truly a very special beer. Its rich malt character and complex spiciness (remember-no spices were harmed in the making of this beer- it’s all the yeast) along with its warming alcohol notes make it the perfect beer to go with dinner (red meats and game particularly) or just to be enjoyed on it’s own. IBU 15 ABV 8% O.G. 19º Plato
