RateBeer.com -- Correct Flossmoor Station Doppelgänger IPAFlossmoor Station Doppelgänger IPA

Description:
Doppelgänger is a German IPA. There is no such thing, you say? Think again, my friends. There is now. Actually this is what we believe a German brewer might create if given the task of brewing an American IPA.

Brewed following the strictest German Purity Law of 1516, only malt, water, hop(lots!) and yeast were added to this new creation. We began with German grown Pilsner Malt and the freshest Lake Michigan water. We then used German Magnum and German Perle hops for bittering and dry hopped it liberally with both Amarillo and Centennial Hops(2# per barrel). We fermented with our house ale yeast (an English variety) but at a colder temperature somewhat as you might do for a lager. The finished product still erupts with wild American hop aromas and is big at 7.8% abv, but has a restrained bitterness and malt body that only a Continental brewer could love. I hope you’ll come share it with us.

If you are a German brewer reading this, please accept our apologies for taking liberties with the fine brews of Germany ;)

Brewer: Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery
Style: India Pale Ale (IPA)
