RateBeer.com -- Correct Brooklyn Extra BruneBrooklyn Extra BruneDescription: January 2008 release of the Brooklyn Brewmaster Reserve series. Brooklyn Extra Brune is a Belgian-style dark abbey ale, brewed in the style developed by Belgium’s Trappist monasteries. Its rich, plumy, raisiny flavors are derived not only from Belgian yeasts, but also from imported Belgian dark “candi” sugar syrup. This syrup is ultra-caramelized, lending both flavor and color to this copper-brown beer. The yeast gives the beer a fruity/spicy complexity, which starts slightly sweet on the palate, but dries into the finish. This is a perfect beer for winter foods – game meats, lamb, stews, and rich cheeses.
Malts: European Pilsner malt, Belgian “Special B”.
Additional sugars: Belgian Dark Candi
Hops: German Perle
OG: 19.2° Plato
