7 reviews for Brown Jug WareHouse - Old Seward
| savnac (57), Palmer, Alaska | | April 22, 2009 Large selection of micro’s, local, and imports. Good prices and even better prices if you shop the sales. Good service, just don’t expect anyone there to tell you the difference between a Belgium Dubbel and Tripel. | | mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | April 10, 2009 Visited on a Saturday afternoon back in September, this huge warehouse of liquor has an incredible selection. Beers from Quebec that we don’t get in Ontario are found here in abundance -- Unibroue and Diel du Ciel! Tons of local Midnight Sun bombers and Belgian selections, nothing overly expensive. Absolutely worth the bus ride out. | | Aggy360 (10), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska | | April 5, 2009 A great place to get local and other craft brews. The selection is great, alot to choose from but they could get more. A large selection of wines but I dont know much in that area. The people are always willing to help, and have offered up some really good beers I would have overlooked. | | jerc (141), Toronto, Ontario | | September 9, 2008 Big store on the Old Seward Highway ( I think the address listed here is wrong...) Ample selection of Alaska made products including the Celestial meads, some PNW, Lost Abbey, and a Unibroue and Dieu du Ciel selection that actually offends me as a Canadian who can’t get half that in my own province. Mostly grabbed Midnight Sun products with a few others. Service was good, but we didnt have too many questions. Prices seemed a bit pricey for some things, but I don’t have anything to compare to really since I don’t normally have access to those products so they might be average. | | CMUBEERMAN (49), Madison, Wisconsin | | August 27, 2008 Not quite sure if this is the brown jug i went to, but it was across the street from gold rush (another large liquor store). This place was great. Tons of stuff I didn’t expect to see...lost abbey, lambics, most pnw. But they had a ton of descutes (abyss and black butte xx) and alaskan barley wine...for pretty f-ing cheap too. Staff was friendly too. | | aracauna (32), Georgia | | June 26, 2005 Excellent selection for Alaskan beers and Pacific Northwest options. Not a bad Belgian selection either. The place is very large (at least the Old Seward Hwy one anyway). There’s a cooler with singles , but for the most part you’re stuck buying six packs of anything smaller than 22 oz. | | PorterPounder (180), Tallahassee, Florida | | September 10, 2004 There are several of these located throughout Anchorage - the one I visited was at 4140 Old Seward Highway which seems to be the largest in the city. Has a great selection of Alaskan and other Pacific Northwest brewers. Most are sold only in six packs - with an exception of a few bombers. Has a decent selection of Belgians - counted at least 25 or so on two different shelves. I picked up a bomber of Elysian Perseus Porter here on my last day in the city just so I would not walk out empty handed - already had stocked up earlier in the week at Yukon Spirits. Overall a decent place - just not as catering to the beergeek. |
