4 reviews for The Chimes - East
| TheDutchman (10), Louisiana | | November 3, 2009 Great selection of beers here with great food just like the campus location. I like this bar better than the one on campus because it’s much more spacious with plenty of room upstairs. It needs every bit of space because this place stays packed. | | bleeng (68), Spring near Beersel , Texas | | August 3, 2009 Non smoking a big plus. Decent beer selection of imports, easy to find micros and NOLA brown. The food is always excellent. Good place on the barren east side of town to imbibe and have a good meal. | TheKeg (3), Louisiana does not count - explanation | | August 20, 2008 The wait staff consists of mostly college aged guys and girls. They tend on the attractive side, but there some that aren’t. The best selection of beer on tap in Baton Rouge. Around 30 or so on tap with 3 or 4 on rotating tap. They also have somewhere in the neighborhood of 110 - 120 bottled beers, most of which are fairly common. Not too many hard to find, or unique beers.
I’ve never had a complaint about the food or any of the employees. I bring all of my guests here at least once. It’s pretty packed every evening. Starting around 6 until 8 or so, you will have a wait for a table. | | PorterPounder (180), Tallahassee, Florida | | January 20, 2006 Newly opened suburban version of the LSU campus mainstay - the Chimes. Busy even on a Tuesday evening in January, this place seems to be packing them in. Has about 60 on tap - nothing mind blowing - but good assortment of common Brits, Belgians, Germans and more macros than you can shake a stick at. Very small selection of micros though outside of the local favorite Abita, which they have a rotating tap of their latest Select series. Around 75 bottles in the cooler, decent selection - probably the best selection in the Baton Rouge area - again, common imports with a few gems such as Chimay and Delirium. The food is serviceable, I had the salmon and it was very good. Even though the bar area where I sat was very crowded, it did not seem to have the heavy smokiness that the campus location seems to always have. Worth a stop. |
