Loz and I visited here 30-10-09 for their first beer festival and stayed in the camper at the second location just down the road. Really enjoyable place and despite the size an incredibly well stocked little beer shop with some absolute winners from some of the best brewers in Europe and further afield. It was difficult to get a really good feel for the place owing to it being the day of the beer festival, but all of the staff were very friendly and their own beer were as usual very good. Quite easy to find and well situated for an easy excursion if one is in Amsterdam or Utrecht as it really wasn’t that far at all.

Visited this weekend for their first annual beerfestival. (I am hoping it is a first in a series.) It is a picturesque and functional location. The restaurant was closed so didn’t get to sample--but will return. The shop was open and has a solid selection of craft beers from NL, Belgium, USA and Scandinavia. Nice to finally meet Menno, the brewer that’s been keeping us all excited.

I went there with my girlfriend for a day trip. We both enjoy beer very much and we wanted to see the place where they come up with a new beer every few months. We were both impressed by the fact how small it is, considering their output. The people there must do some really judicious work. While we were there a presentation on "how brewing works" was being conducted by the brewmaster, and we watched it while we got a taste of a series of De Molen beers in small taste glasses (0.20 cl iirc) It was great. The price for the whole procession of beers was really good, also the food is not expensive for it’s outstanding quality. They have a small shop where they sell their own beer and also a small but carefully chosen selection of Scandinavian and American beers. Add to that a number of great "like your granny used to have" traditional Dutch products of the edible and drinkable kind, and you get a nice little store. The staff are nice and enthusiastic, even though the younger people seem to be more trained in being good bar/restaurant personnel than beer experts. For the rest Bodegraven is as boring as a small town in the middle of Holland can be, even though it actually has strong historic roots, which are showcased around the town on municipal boards. It is one of those places, which once had great promise in old times but became forgotten when superseded by the modern age. In the beer landscape of the Netherlands - however - it is like a major metropolis. Go and see it if you can.

nice place, good restaurant/pub. The beershop is very very little with a minimalist selection. The most popular De Molen’s beers are not available neither in the beershop nor in the restaurant

Visited this after a long bike-trip to Bodegraven and we were really thirsty when we arrived. Nice helpful young staff and great service. Really helpful girl. The atmosphere is great, no one is ever in a hurry and the food we ordered was top notch. Too bad there’s nothing else to do in Bodegraven. One of the best places in Holland for sure

Visited two times now. A sanctuary in the middle of nowhere... this is a place where time stops ticking. A nice selection of draught beers from the Netherlands’ best brewery. A full restaurant menu. A beershop with no longer only their own beers, but also lots of stuff from the US, Denmark, Norway and Belgium. Gather your beer basket to-go while you eat. Service is friendly, the windmill is beautiful, and so is the canal view. Note taken: no credit cards. A must visit if you’re nearby. Also check out the small animal park right across the street.

Suddenly in the middle of a dutch village , a windmill comes into your view, the place feels warm rustic and not overly decorated, you can see the brewery from the dining area. The brewer and and chef were very talktive and we had a friendly chat, they served and explained evey thing that was on tap. I did not try the food, but the menu looks like a godd partner to the excellent beer. Very much hope to come here again.

Fantastic place. Situated in this old traditional mill next to a beautifull canal. OPen the door from the restaurant and you wiull find that your almost in the canal. The staff is friendly and serves both beers and meals perfectly. The chef knows what he is doing, and the brewer defently does too. The selection in the beer store is great with beers from Mikkeller, Amager Nøgne Ø, Rouge, and other american brews. Off cause there is also the best selection of De Molen that youll find. Go there for dinner, for drinks or for buying your stuff. Very very nice

Took us a while to find this place but once I saw the windmill we had arrived. Cool little brew pub. Grabbed a a few Tsarina Ezra from the store and sat down to a wonderful sandwich. You could smell the malt in the air. Great stop on our way to Antwerp.

I visit this brewery for 2 times, last summer. They were rebuilding the place. In spite of that it was a very nice place to be and to drink several beers of the Molen from tap. It is a nice place with very friendly people. The shop has most of the beer on 75 cl bottles and some on 33 cl bottles. I can recommend this place for every beer lover and everybody they wants to drink another beer. I have had several dinners in the restaurant. I can recommend this restaurant to every one. It’s a very good restaurant.
