| mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | August 10, 2008 Visited on a quiet Sunday evening in September 2007. Typical feel for a bar in town, very small and local with big old long wooden benches, interesting old drawings on the walls and a fireplace tucked in the corner while radio music was playing in the background. We didn’t try the food but the beer selection was interesting with taps like Clusters and Archers and Hopback. Service was quick and not particularly jovial. Overall, jolly good fun. | | downender (116), Bristol, England | | May 19, 2007 [ Updated July 11, 2009 ] A genuine free house just beyond Bristol city centre. Has 7 ever changing ales on sale, with frequent guest beers from Yorkshire, Lancashire and Scottish microbrewers. These often include milds, porters or stouts. Also does a fair range of bottled beers, with some Trappists and German wheat beers. Beer festivals in April and November. Atmosphere can be a bit quiet, but definitely one of Bristol’s best pubs for beer lovers. |
