| gyllenbock (19), Stockholm, Sweden | | November 10, 2009 Visited on a Sunday evening in October 2009. Nice atmosphere, the place was full of people. Service was good and the selection was descent. Central location next to Manneken Pis. | tph767 (3), Orlando, Florida does not count - explanation | | October 25, 2009 Just joined up with ratebeer. I’ve visited this awesome spot about 10 times over 2 years. The beer list is pretty darn good, however if you’re going for a meal head over to Spinnekopke (unless your meal is like mine and a plate of salami and chimay cheese works.) The atmosphere is great along with the service. At first you may think the wait staff are rude, but their bluntness will direct you toward better beers that you wouldn’t normally order. Take my advice and tell them what you like, they will bring you something better! My favorite time is Christmas at Le Poechenellkelder! Lots of Christmas/Winter brews and very cozy. This place is always packed so go early if your group is larger than 3. | | marchcow (36), Coralville, Iowa | | September 24, 2009 A very nice corner tavern in a busy spot for people watching. They had a special beer tent set up outside for the Belgian beer weekend festival. Had trouble getting a seat here and had to come back at a slower time. Atmosphere is nice inside and out. Ok service. Menu was quite good. Definitely worth a stop and location is convenient. | | eManu (22), Brussels, Belgium | | September 20, 2009 This is one of Brussels most typical old beer taverne. Its all about Brussels, the Mannekenpis and of course beer. The atmosphere is great and typical of an old taverne, the staff is very nice and also funny. The decoration is very much old beer orianted and you can see old crates of bottles of Westvleteren a bit everywhere among other well known brands. The beer menu is quite long, although they have 4 draft beers, they have 15 beers of the week, and I have counted 142 beers on the menu. They even have some rare bottle and some vintage beers.
This is a must go for anyone visiting Brussels, if you like beers but even if you dont’ | | fly (190), austin, Tejas, | | September 15, 2009 First place to stop and have a beer after a brief walk from the hotel. Being across from the "pis" gave it that extra something. Decent selection, a nice waiter and pleasant eve at the tables out front sharing beers with my friends made for a great time. | | Borresteijn (52), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | August 31, 2009 Spent almost an entire day here on our Brussels trip 2 years ago. After searching and asking for a good Belgian beer bar (none of the Bruxellensians could tell us where there was such a place, and I didn’t know of Ratebeer then) we found one next to the busiest place of Brussels... Had lots of beer here while being gazed upon by all the puppets and dressed up Manneken Pis statues, almost picked up 2 euro’s from the stairs, went away for some food (too pricy here) and came back for more beer. Looks a bit odd at first, but makes you feel at home very quickly, although the waiter refused to understand Dutch at first while my French sucks. | | rizzocp (11), , Italy | | August 1, 2009 Nice place very good service | | BarKeeper (11), Brussels, Belgium | | July 27, 2009 One of the best place in downtown.
Just front of Mannekenpis, you can’t miss it.
Selection is quiet good for a belgian pub. Service is just amazing. They do a really nice work overthere.
Food is well made but common.
Enjoy that place ! | | zanfa11 (10), , Italy | | July 5, 2009 good beer selection very nice place in front of the little boy pissing...full of tourist. | | sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | June 29, 2009 Nice little spot right by the Manneken-Pis.
Busy outside, people don’t seem to be going inside.
Inside has a nice setting with old dolls that were used in Brussels’ famous toone puppet string shows, all represent typical "Bruxellois" image as one could say.
Waiter was very friendly, beer list is nice and can offer some nice little gems at a fair price considering the location. |
