tdtm82 (4), , England does not count - explanation | | November 19, 2009 Descent real ale pub close to Essex County Cricket Ground. Prominent range of ales on tap. Always Crouch Vale beers.
In bottles you can get Coopers’ Pale Ale and VB. You can pick up a couple of drab German beers on tap but nothing too special.
Replace the German beers on tap with something better and include a few Belgian ales and especially Rochefort then this pub will get a higher rating.
All in all an honest and authentic pub. One of the better pubs in Chelmsford.
| | ladnewton (60), London, England | | July 6, 2009 Paid a visit to this ale mecca on 27th August 2008. A really fantastic pub, with well-kept range of around six ales mainly from Crouch Vale, but with microbrewery guests as well. Divided into two quite spacious and accommodating drinking areas and attracts ale enthusiasts from near and far. I visited on my own but soon found myself in conversation with regulars and locals. The pub is well worth seeking out for beer quality and pleasant atmosphere. | | pivnizub (273), Bochum, Porúří, Germany | | August 3, 2006 At least 6 real ales (plus 2 plastic brews from Germany) are available in this nice pub, among them the really exciting brews of the Crouch Vale brewery. Quite simple, friendly two-room pub with a patio in the backyard; semi-modern, unspectacular, but the ales are worth a journey.............! |
