57 reviews for Goose Island Beer Company (Wrigleyville)
| shawnm213 (53), South Bend, Indiana | | December 22, 2009 went here with kylie for dinner. Service was okay, but the beer selection and food was a little underwealming. The bread on my sandwich was soggy. I hear the clybourn location is better, but I’ve never been there. | | michael-pollack (71), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania | | November 2, 2009 Nice BrewPub ambiance. Dark with lots of wood. Fair service; A bit slow and inattentive. Good selection of house beers. Food was just above average. Price was as expected. | Block (4), West Lafayette, Indiana does not count - explanation | | August 30, 2009 Lots of great Goose Island beers on tap and in bottles. Service was excellent and the food was great. Beers were served in the appropriate glassware as well. Awesome atmosphere in Wrigleyville. WiFi is also available. | | phaleslu (94), Cincinnati, Ohio | | August 16, 2009 I’ve never been to the Clybourn location, but this one is on a very busy block of Clark in Wrigleyville and still manages a nice atmosphere. About a dozen taps but not all were active when I went there, which meant they were short on the seasonals and harder-to-find GI brews. That was disappointing but hopefully next time this will be rectified. They also have a few other bottles of stuff that might not be on tap at the time. The food is relatively usual brewpub fare in terms of the menu, but is better quality than that in most other pubs. I was pleased with the buffalo chicken sandwich and the burgers looked good, too. Not the greatest brewpub out there, but if you’re in Chicago for a few days and hitting all the big spots, one of the Goose Island brewpubs deserves a visit. | | ilovedarkbeer (39), Dallas, Texas | | May 30, 2009 Went here on game day. Good pub grub, I had a buffalo chicken sandwich that hit the spot, and I will have to try to the stilton burger next time. Simple yet delicious. All female waitresses that are fairly cute. Quick service, great beers, nice large interior with lots of seating and room. Good times but kind of pricey. | | kiplog (15), Evanston, Illinois | | March 18, 2009 I like the Clybourn location more - but anywhere you can get a fresh beer is okay with me. There’s always something on a cask, and three or four specialties - look on the board - not at the bars taps for the good stuff, they’ll be on taps behind the bar. I had the dangerously delicious Night Stalker last time.
You do get the impression that the regular taps have rather unimpressive stuff running on them though (at least compared to the other location) - probably to satisfy the crowds coming in looking for Bud. | | dm9831 (30), Monee, Illinois | | March 12, 2009 i have been here 4 or 5 times, and each time i am a little more disappointed. i suppose the place is better if it is not jammed with people attending FoBAB or NotLA. having attended at least 4 beer festivals here, i have to say that it is a terrible venue for them. thankfully, FoBAB has since moved on to Plumber’s Hall. hopefully NotLA will soon follow. on my last visit, neither the bouncers, nor the waitstaff, nor the bartender’s were friendly or helpful. in fact, you got the impression the extra work required for the beer festival was causing them a problem. i am also tiring of having to struggle through a huge crowd to get near the festival beer taps. all that having been said, they have pretty good appetizers, and the beer selction is not bad. | | trayns (23), Beverly Hills, Michigan | | February 13, 2009 Great atmosphere, great food. I had an oak aged imperial stout that I was not able to find back home in Michigan. Pretty cool place, right by Wrigley. I would love to go back again. | | FunkyBrewster (12), Chicago, Illinois | | October 13, 2008 I don’t live very far from here and it has been a nice place each time I have gone in. The main problem is that it is too big for its own good. It’s doesn’t feel cozy because I have sat in the back with friends each time and we are in this huge open room. The front area seems much for comfortable and intimate. They always have good Goose Island beers on tap and last time I was here I got the Naughty Goose and the Harvest Ale. (I was tempted to get the Bourbon County Stout on tap but didn’t wanna drop $10 for it at the time) The food is good, maybe not the best but still solid. Mostly go for the beer. The Clybourn location is better but this one is still nice | wrburgess (1), CHICAGO, Illinois does not count - explanation | | September 26, 2008 Lots of space, can usually get a seat, pub chips are goood, menu is so-so |
