28 reviews for Sheffield’s (Chicago)
| NobleSquirrel (55), Chicago, Illinois | | September 18, 2009 Definitely one of the places that I like to hit up for a good time. The place is huge with three bars, all of which have different offerings. If it isn’t too busy, the bartenders are even willing to go between bars to get you what you need. Prices are good and the do have a cask offering. The only issue with that is that it doesn’t really turn over. Overall, a great place to spend a day drinking. excellent. The food is pretty damn tasty as well, though I don’t usually eat... | | phaleslu (88), Cincinnati, Ohio | | August 16, 2009 Sheffield’s is one of my favorite bars to go to in Chicago, particularly with a large group that includes those who aren’t big beer drinkers. The selection has something for everyone, from connoisseurs to people looking for cheap specials on macros. Maybe 2 dozen taps (32 taps seems high), and normally featuring New Holland, Bells, Three Floyds, Founders, Great Lakes, Goose Island, Surly, and others. Nice atmosphere, with a couple different rooms inside and one of the best patios in the city. Very mixed crowd, and crowded on weekends. Good location a few blocks from the Belmont L station. | | BeerBelcher (130), Columbus, Ohio | | August 12, 2009 I learned about this place from a newspaper column - not being from Chicago I guess it isn’t surprising I hadn’t heard of it through this site or other beer circles. I had high hopes, but somehow after Piece and Goose Island it seemed a disappointment, although there is certainly nothing wrong with it. Quite a few taps, a beer engine, and a decent bottle list. But for a city with a ton of great beer places (Sheffield’s would certainly rival the best of what Columbus has to offer), it doesn’t really stick out as superlative. Service was OK, but not really beer savvy. Tap list had some nice beers on it, but nothing really notable or outstanding. And the beer on the beer engine (Arcadia IPA) was a little weak.
A nice place, but I don’t know that I’d go as far out of your way as I went out of mine to pay a visit. | | deyholla (14), Bloomington, Indiana | | June 28, 2009 My favorite Wrigleyville bar. Visiting it frequently when I am in the area. Can be quite crowed on days of cubs games and fridays and saturdays. Beyond that it is a nice atmosphere. A removed beer school bar is a more laid back area to taste beers. Seems to be about 25-30 different taps. A good variety and some relatively rare bottles. Service has been great every time I have gone and the beer school bartender is quite knowledgeable. | | clingman71 (12), Centerville, Ohio | | April 26, 2009 [ Updated April 29, 2009 ] Impressive draft list spread out over 3 bars and an outside tap. Excellent food/bbq. Many beers not available in Ohio on tap. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, really impressed. A definite must visit when in Chicago.

GI BCS | | daknole (90), Plantation, Florida | | March 22, 2009 Fun spot in a damn fun city. Tons of bottles and some interesting taps. Crowds can make it very hard to hear yourself think, but beer selection and people watching make it a great place to hang! | | kmweaver (113), Sebastopol, California | | September 20, 2008 Solid corner bar north of downtown that showcases lots of Michigan brewers on tap and in bottles: Kalamazoo beers, Goose Island, Bells, Great Lakes, Founders, Surly, etc. Excellent taplist, with probably about 20 taps total. Bottle list is extensive and broad, but nothing in terms of rarities or anything like that, just tons of local beers and good international offerings. Got pints of Kalamazoo Porter for $3, and they’ve got drink specials pretty much everyday. A good stop, even though it took us a while to get there off of 94. | | Homer321 (10), Rockledge, Florida | | August 4, 2008 we ate and drank at this place for less than they were asking for 2 tix to the game! awesome rennovations since we were there last year. unfortunately didn’t get to do the beer school stuff in the back. great selection of bottles and decent on draft stuff. met the GM when I was there and he chatted with us for a while. This would be my first choice in wrigleyville area. | | FunkyBrewster (12), Chicago, Illinois | | July 9, 2008 Really nice place to go on those hot summer days. Pleasant outdoor patio with tables set up pretty casually. Only knock is that it can get very crowded so if you don’t stake out a table you might be standing amongst a lot of people. There is a really good selection of rarer beers here, though nothing out of this world. Not bad on the price either ($5 for most of the pints, $6 if it’s more rare). Considering the area (close to Wrigley) those are good prices. One of the better bars around the area though. | | hombrepalo (44), Chicago, Illinois | | July 7, 2008 Finally checked this place out. Quite impressed. I went on a Sunday afternoon to finihs watching a Cubs game. It was pretty empty. This place is cool it has a beer garden, nice indoor sitting area and they just started this thing called a beer school in the back room, which I did not attend. The staff was nice. Selection was quite big, bigger than I antisapated. The beer menue is on this small type of a book with a good description of the beer along with the price. Price there was not bad. Taps were mostly local stuff like Kalamazoo Porter, Wheat & Amber, Two Brothers, FFF, Goose Island and some other goddies. Overall a great place, better than any place near Wrigleyville. |
