12 reviews for Smallbar Wicker Park
| shawnm213 (42), South Bend, Indiana | | September 13, 2009 Outdoor seating, but not the best view. The staff was all very friendly and helpful, but it sometimes took a while to get service. The selection was pretty solid, easy to find stuff I wanted to drink. Happy with the food. | | NobleSquirrel (55), Chicago, Illinois | | June 30, 2009 Came in here not too long ago and was pleased to see the beer selection, which included nightstalker and a gravity cask of Red Eye Porter. The food was generous and very decent. The crowd was rambunctious in a bad way, but the staff was spot on, even with the crowded atmosphere. Definitely a good place to go. | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | June 22, 2009 I stopped in on a Saturday night because Map Room was loud, crowded, and hotter than a Sauna. So my brother suggested this place. This just a small quaint bar in between two trendier bars. The tables were made from old bowling lanes, which was sort of cool. I thought the tap and bottle selection was pretty darn respectable. I would not go so far to call this a beer bar, but more like a bar with a nice selection of beer..if that makes any sense. The typical Wicker Park crowd is a bit young for me 20-30, but everyone was nice and I did not feel out of place. I had an Allagash Black and Surly Furious on tap. Not too shabby if you ask me. I would have no problem returning if I just wanted a good beer and avoid crowds. They had a nicely organized bottle and tap list to make things easier to order. Prices are just ok. If you are into Soccer, this seems to be meeting place to watch games. | | deyholla (15), Bloomington, Indiana | | May 29, 2009 Soccer in beer in one place! A good place to fire and enjoy a good beer. The selection is good but not great and a tad bit expensive. | | Lubiere (177), Ottawa, Ontario | | May 23, 2009 I really enjoyed this bar on my latest visit to Chicago. Selection centers on American offerings, with many gems. I had La Folie and Founders Cerise on tap, and both where delicious. Cuisine centers on various burgers, and pub fare, with a twist. This is also a haven for soccer and rugby fan. Service was super friendly and attentive. One of the staff even game a free sample of local cider (which was delicious). Samples are available and price vary per beer, so this is a good place to sit down, relax, and do some serious rating. | | beeronmypants (11), Des Moines, Iowa | | February 27, 2009 This is one of my favorite places to hang out in Chicago. They have a great selection of beer and it is decently priced. The food is amazing and the design of the bar is great. I love to go in the summer time because you can sit out on the patio or inside where they have the shutters open. The staff is a lot of fun and bar seems low key. | | CanIHave4Beers (56), Des Moines, Iowa | | February 4, 2009 I go here whenever I am in Chicago, they’ve got a great selection of good beers and they serve them at the proper temp. The food is also very good, you can’t beat the sunday brunch. The staff is very knowledgable about beer and always very helpful. The place is decorated with a lot of soccer stuff which is a nice change of pace. | bigbuildinze (2), Porter, Indiana does not count - explanation | | January 4, 2009 nice little place. big soccer scene. plenty of micros and crafts, 100+ on the menu at least .I’ve been turned on to many a brew here, most recently the Dark Horse Crooked Tree (on tap). service is friendly, food is usually good but a little unpredictable. | brichaz (1), Oak Park, Illinois does not count - explanation | | July 9, 2008 Eclectic if not particularly rare beer list. I asked if they had anything unusual and they produced a bottle of Dogfish Head 120 IPA. Not rare, somewhat hard to find but still a special beer. Very good food.
| | hombrepalo (44), Chicago, Illinois | | April 2, 2008 Nice place hidden in a quiet residental street. The food here is just o.k. and so is the selection. Nothing special here that you cant find somewhere else. Maybe 50 or 60 bottles and 10 on tap, mainly american microbrews. Service was good, I got a free beer cause the first two selections I chose were out, so that was cool, but other than that this blace was just o.k. |
