| TheBeerOrg (34), Kentucky | | October 31, 2009 Great selection of beer from Indiana. I’ve been making the trek across the river about twice a month lately. Many beers that we can’t get in Kentucky: Victory, New Belgium, Three Floyds, Allagash, Cantillon and The Bruery (to name a few). Todd has done a good job organizing the beer, and is always willing to talk beer. For the traveler, this and the Springhurst Liquor Barn are the best bottle shops in the Louisville area. | | TearsforBeers (11), Ohio | | June 22, 2009 I definitely agree that it looks like a hole in the wall, but then turns out to have good selection. I really like the unassuming look. The folks at the counter were friendly and helpful. Their selection was pretty good, but not really as mind blowing as I’d expected. They certainly have loads of quality items, so it’s a very fine stop, but it’s not any better than other good quality beer stores (Kahn’s, Vine and Table, etc.) in the state. | | allfreej (59), Louisville, Kentucky | | May 3, 2009 [ Updated September 4, 2009 ] Outside appearance is that of a hole-in-the-wall liquor store, an appearance that belies the wonders within. This place has an unreal selection of hard-to-find beers both domestic craft beer as well as unusual imports. Excellent service complements the large selection and the only drawback is the effort required to make up one’s mind and not overspending. Much better selection than any other Louisville area beer store. Highly recommended. | | AguynamedTodd (17), Indiana | | April 16, 2009 The owner has done a nice job expanding his selection after the remodeling/opening of the new building. The employees and owner are very helpful at finding the beers you are looking for. They have the best selection of beers in the Louisville area. | | Brigadier (79), Chagrin Falls, Ohio | | January 13, 2009 I stopped in just after the remodel when some of the shelves were missing. As a result I got to see the back room ad all the good stuff hidden back there (which is probably now on the shelves).
If you want regional breweries like Three Floyds or Upland this is the easiest place to get them in the Louisville area. Close to the New Albanian as well it sits just off the interstate. The service was fantastic; by the time I left I had dropped well over $100 filling a case with things that don’t make it up to Ohio. | | NachlamSie (209), Tennessee | | June 22, 2008 This old store is an easy drive from Louisville and only about 4 miles from Rich O’s so I will most certainly be coming here on my future visits to this town. For the majority of my visit, my mouth was agape with shock at the quality of the selection. Bear in mind I live in TN, so this kind of thing is most impressive, but I’d say it rivals any other beer store in any other state that I’ve visited. I’ve never seen one store that had Hoppin Frog, Norreboro, Olfabrikken, Mikkeller, Three Floyds, and a handful of other gems like 120 minute, Avery Mephistopheles, Stone RIS at the same time. The selection here is staggering with everything available in singles. 6 packs are stored in a cooler along with a handful of bombers and another hundred or so bombers are warm on a shelf. Of course I was concerned about the age of some of these beers, given the enormous selection and the fact that everyone else during my visit was buying Bud Light. I asked the clerk if she thought the Dreadnaught had been there for a while. She politely told me that in all honestly, it was most likely not fresh. What a shame, all those Dreadnaughts just dying away in the fridge. I did pick up some Alpha King which still had a pretty good hoppy punch and bought mostly imperial stouts and Belgian style brews and ended up spending $133. The 6 packs are reasonably priced, I paid $11 for a sixer of Siberian Night. However, start breaking up the 6 packs and you start paying a much higher price. Anyway, this is a fantastic stop for me. Now I’m sitting in my hotel with a cooler filled with Beer Geek Breakfast, Robert the Bruce, Alpha King, Expedition, BORIS, Peche Mortel, 3 Fontenien Kriek, etc. etc. . . I am happy. | | 502Flavors (37), Louisville, Kentucky | | May 28, 2008 [ Updated January 20, 2009 ] I visited this place on my way home from work (at Rich O’s, which is awesome!) after hearing about it here. I was trying to get in and out so denied the owner when he asked me if I needed help though I didn’t need help, if I had more time I might have liked to just chat about beer with him. The micro selection wasn’t that huge, but included some beauties I though I would never encounter within a drivable distance from my house (20 min or less). The only micros I saw were stored warm on a long shelf isle (so if perhaps there is a micro cooler section and more good beer here than i though!) I got a single 11.2 oz. of Pannepøt ($7-8) and a bomber of 2007 FFF Behemouth ($16). I can’t wait to go back with more money. A must stop if in the area.
[RE-RATE] Boosting the selection from 14 to 15. This place moved to a new location (really just a new building considering the new location is essentially in the parkinglot of the old location). It has e | | esjaygee (103), Oak Creek, Wisconsin | | May 23, 2008 [ Updated September 9, 2009 ] Excellent new store with plenty of coolers and two full aisles of beer – one for foreign and one for domestic. Everything is single serve (unless boxed) and there’s a great selection of beers. Plenty of Indiana and Kentucky beers I can’t get in Wisconsin as well as Brooklyn, Great Divide, Clipper City and Hoppin’ Frog which don’t make it up there either. Todd was in the store that day and walked up and down the aisles with my wife and I answering all our questions and giving recommendations – excellent customer service. It’s definitely my new go-to beer store in the Louisville area and it’s just off I-65 so if passing through make sure to stop in. | Cush (8), does not count - explanation | | January 9, 2008 Amazing selection. I think I went in when the temporary help was running the place, because they had no idea what was going on. Rather pricey, some of the selection out of stock, not the best part of town. All that aside, I will definitely be stopping in here to re-up my collection every time I am in the area. Great place! | Tilley4 (6), Huron, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | December 21, 2007 What an incredible place this is. Todd is extremely knowledgable and helpful and picked out some real gems for me. Huge selection including BBC, Avery, Stone, Rogue, Three Floyds, lots of Belgian seasonals, Brooklyn, too many to name. Its a long drive for me (about 5 hours) but it was worth it to be able to finally carry a case of Three Floyds to my car. Highly recommended place. |
