Statman (1), Maryland does not count - explanation | | February 12, 2009 Extremely friendly and efficient service with 10% discount on Tuesdays for craft beer purchases (note: doesn’t include Sam Adams which they note is no longer small enough to be a "craft brewer"). They have obtained and saved off ofr me several hard to get brews that I requested. Excellent shelf and refrigerated selection of U.S. and import brews including many harder to find craft brews in both six packs and bomber size. Well worth a side trip if you are in the greater Columbia, MD area. | | KnN (22), Greenbelt, Maryland | | August 24, 2008 Owner was very nice and super helpful. He has a good selection of beers, some I hadn’t seen at other beer stores in the area. Good selection of imported and domestic 750 bottles. Prices seem competitive with other stores in the area. Definitely worth a stop if you’re nearby. Looked like they had a pretty killer wine selection too. And a nice humidor if you want to pick up a cigar. | FrankSchick (2), Columbia, Maryland does not count - explanation | | May 27, 2008 Wine tasting (Fri, 1700-2000) Very large selection of Wine, Beers, and other liquors. Owner very friendly and willing to consider special orders. Visiting here was a pleasure. I had been looking for a local supply for St. Bernardus Abt 12 and they had it in 750ml. | callink (1), does not count - explanation | | April 26, 2008 Great selection and they are always looking for something new and different. I have never been to a beer and wine shop or a liquor store that has beer tastings! If I can’t find what I want, they offer to get it for me. They are a part of the community here - not just a place to shop. | sharenmaddox (1), Ellicott City, Maryland does not count - explanation | | March 18, 2008 Vintage Cellars was the first store I’ve ever visited where the owner randomly opened a bottle of beer just so I could try it. The staff spent a lot of time helping me pick out beers. Although they have tons of beers in stock, whenever I want to try one they are always more than willing to special order me cases or even to start keeping the item in stock. I’ve never had problems with the pricing I actually think it’s very fair. The Tuesday beer discount day really helps too! | BelgianGlory (1), does not count - explanation | | February 25, 2008 I also bought some St Berardus ABT 12 for $8.99/bottle off the shelf and ordered a case. When the order arrived, less than a week later, I was charged $10.99/bottle and everything was blamed on the distributor. Price increases are a fact of life, but how stores handle them separate the good from the not so good. They gave me no heads up or case discounts, just charged my card... couldn’t even remember the prices they charged a week earlier! These guys talk a good game, but really don’t deliver, and may not be a store reliable enough to build a relationship with. | wontgetfooled (1), Hanover, Maryland does not count - explanation | | February 25, 2008 Beware Vintage Cellars as things may not be what they seem.
Absolutely great selection of Belgian Beers. I saw a beer that I had tried to get for years, on their shelf, for $7.99 a bottle so I purchased all they had on the shelf and made sure that they had none in the back. I then ordered a case.
When I get to the store, I see that they have restocked the shelf and the price was still $7.99 per bottle.
I get my charge slip and it states $114 and change. I then inquired as to why I was paying more for a case than the single bottle price. She said I was not, so I then turned to the shelf they had re-stocked at $7.99 and retrieved a bottle, gave it to her and said by my math this would be $96 dollars plus tax no where near $114. She told me that the price went up. I then said that I know where I can get a 10% discount on any case of Belgian beer, her reply, I can do that.
All that just to get it at back to a single bottle price off the shelf.
