2 reviews for Whole Foods Market, Columbus
minch25 (1), Columbus, Ohio does not count - explanation | | May 15, 2009 This is one of the hidden gems of Columbus as far as beer stores go. They don’t have a huge selection but what they have is very well chosen. I don’t shop here often but only because I always decide to buy more than I expect and overspend. In the middle of the store by the large wine section is where most of the beers are, but if you go towards the back of the store you will find some more good beers that are chilled, don’t forget to check back there! Some notable selections I’ve seen recently include: Cantillon Fou Foune, Saint Lamvinus, Iris, Vigneronne, Pannepot, Struise Mikkeller IPA, Peche Mortel and sometimes some other DDC beers, Abbaye des Rocs Brune, Grand Cru, Tripel Imperiale, Old Horizontal, Nogne O Porter & Imperial Stout, Nils Oscar Barley Wine & Imperial Stout, De Ranke Kriek, several De Dolle beers, Oerbier etc., Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait, Boon Oude Kriek, Expedition Stout, Rochefort 6 8 10, Insanely Bad Elf, Schlenkerla Urbock, Duchesse de Bourgogne, some seasonal Founders, and som | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | December 19, 2007 (Visited 09/2005): Whole Foods Market is located in the Sun Shopping Center on the 161/Sawmill intersection. Lots of parking but they were still super busy a couple weeks after opening and it was a hike.
The store is large and as most people know is a natural/organic grocery store. The beer/wine area is in the middle of the store, and there is another cooler mostly of singles over in the area where you can buy hot food to eat on site.
The beer selection is pretty good. Lots of local/regionals from Bell’s, GLBC etc plus a solid selection of other micros like Stone, Rogue, Victory etc. They also carry an exclusive organic beer from Goose Island called Lamar St. Pale Ale. Decent selection of imports too, including some Rochefort and other Belgians.
Service here is okay for a grocery store. Nobody really went out of their way to help but the staff is clearly well-trained and friendly.
It’s pretty nice to have Whole Foods, Anderson’s, Wine Vault and Trader Joe’s all within 1/2 mile from each other - a beer lover could certainly do worse than Dublin these days. |
