JSturm (7), Yellow Springs, Ohio does not count - explanation | | August 4, 2009 I’ve been twice now and I do like the place. Probably the best draught selection in the Dayton area. I have NOT been to the new Boston’s Bistro location but if the old one was any indication my hopes are not high. The ambiance here is what you might expect in a suburban strip mall. On my last visit I had the St Bernardus 12 (the draft is never as good as the bottle on this one) and a Goose Island Matilda (excellent). Only open for lunch on Fridays. I’ll definitely be back | | Braudog (478), Dayton, Ohio | | February 15, 2009 February 2009 - This place looks promising on the outside, but the inside ambience is 1970s Dennys. Get past it, though, and get to the list of 30 rotating taps of micro/imports (only 2 crappy ones) and a nice list of 100 bottles. I didn’t find anything completely outside the box, but it was a nice selection. The service was OK and knew a little bit about beer. Food (standard pub fare) was OK, too. So far the best I’ve found for a bar in Dayton. | | clingman71 (12), Centerville, Ohio | | January 10, 2009 Best beer bar in Dayton, but that isn’t saying much, Dayton sucks. 30 beers on tap, most are solid. Non-descript place, friendly but slightly slow service, EXCELLENT FOOD however. A little pricey, but what isn’t nowadays. I would like to see more hoppy beers on the rotating taps. | | Capa (82), Yokosuka, Japan | | August 25, 2008 Besides being closed on Monday I can’t think of something bad to say about the place. Excellent tap lineup and a great bottle selection, also. They actually care about the quality of the beer in your glass, which is something not all beer bars tend to do. The food was excellent and if I didn’t like beer I’d go back for just that but i love beer so I’m heading back for another pint. Pretty busy when I was there (following alefest), the live music was very nice and at the proper level to keep conversation going. I love it. | 12many (4), Ohio does not count - explanation | | August 4, 2008 Nice selection and more upscale than I thought it would be. Definitely not the place to go wearing a muscle shirt. (No I wasn’t wearing one). It wasn’t very crowded, which was nice, but I doubt this place would be very comfortable if it was. Good food, good service, and great beer selection. | | Bigmmartin (10), Dayton, Ohio | | July 30, 2008 I just heard about this place a few days ago so decided to try it out. It was much nicer on the inside than I expected. The service was fairly quick and the bartender was knowledgeable and enjoyed talking about the different brews available. Selection is great considering what else is in the area. They had some really hard to find draft beers, such as the Chimay White and Northcoast Scrimshaw Pils. Never seen them on tap before. As mentioned by glkaiser, was overjoyed when I saw Bells Hopslam on the menu, but disappointed when I was told it wasn’t available. A definite necessity within the Dayton area. | | glkaiser (38), Seattle, Washington | | July 30, 2008 If we were grading on a scale to keep in mind the lack of any other good beer bars in this area, this would be a slam dunk 20 overall must hit if in the area.
Several midwest/eastern craft brew gems on tap that I was hoping to find, including Two Hearted, Oberon, Southern Tier Un-Earthly...
Solid selection of US craft and imports.
The fried chicken was freaking awesome. Kitchen and beer service was slow...they f’d up our dinner orders, but they made up for it w/ a good discount. Server and management was nice, and very apologetic about the mixups (Took about an hour to get our food).
They were out of the first 2 beers I ordered Dragon’s Milk and Hop Slam. I just stuck with Two Hearted after that....
| | Maddog (13), Kettering, Ohio | | July 28, 2008 Best beer bar in the Greater Dayton area. The food is good, the selection is great and the service is very friendly. A must if you find yourself in this otherwise Bud light town. | | Tmoney99 (257), Cincinnati, Ohio | | July 28, 2008 Easy to find location on a corner of strip mall. Clean inside with wood bar in the middle and table on the right and left. Patio on the side. Taps on the wall behind bar and coolers on the side. Freindly service with good knowledge of selection of 30 taps on the day I was there. All beers above average drinkable beers. Good food menu and the Fish and Chips lunch was a good portion and very good flavor. I enjoyed the visit. | Whiteysbier (1), Dayton, Ohio does not count - explanation | | July 28, 2008 The staff knows their beers! A bonus! Great selection of crafts and drafts. Look at the board to find the specials. I usually get the naked wings for an appetizer and then go for the ribs a couple of pints later. My wife looks at ABV for her beer choices. Great sample flight selections! |
