The finest multi roomed beer tavern in the world IMO. I’m not marking it down on beer selection as you don’t have far to walk to hundreds of other pubs in Dusseldorf’s Altstadt area. The choice here is the freshest beer you’ll ever taste with no stale alternatives. Always busy and bustling, it’s fascinating to watch the staff frequently rolling fresh or emty casks of alt to and from the numerous serving points around this laberinth. Food is limited to simple snacks to soak up the delicious beer. A must do.

This place is huge. Unfortunately we arrived late and close to closing time. We had a few altes - the were good but we also agreed on that they wern´t as good as the ones at Schlüssel - they had a better crispyness anf freshness. Still it was really good beer and pretty cheap. The place was need and we were situated outside at benches. The beer were counted by lines on the coasters. The rooms inside look cosy and very traditional - would love to go there aggain some day.

Nice place with outside "tables" very regional but they take a while to serve you although the beers are fine.

Very nice place with lot of rooms, woody and deeply charming. Decent food but not more. Very crowded of course. Offered a beautiful Alt beer and a modest Weizen. A place you can’t forget.

Visited late December, 2008. Crowded inside, part from the smokers lounge, so had our alt outside under the heaters. Fast service, did not eat. Did not check out toilets. Inside looked nice.

Our first stop in Dusseldorf. I was thirsty, the kids were hungry. Very crowded, but I like that. Great looking place with all kinds of small rooms interconnected by corridors and a large heated terrace outside. First encounter with the waitor was horrible however and stayed that way. They have a very small menu with ok prices but compared to what you get very expensive. Small and horrible. They only serve 1 beer but a great one of course. Other beers can be bought (bottled) but not from the waitor. You have to got to the other side of the bar and order there. At the same waitor! What in f*cking hell is that for a policy??? Would I go again? No!

Stopped by twice in the same day in Sept. 2007. The afternoon visit was my best time in the city, with a few glasses of my favorite alt, a nice wurst salad, and a friendly older gentleman almost forcing me to use whatever German I knew to talk with him. A fascinating looking pub and great beer. Tried to go back there at night with my friends and w couldn’t get it. Visit in the off-hours! For me, the best place in the city.

A great place for a quick stop for a few glasses of Alt. By far the busiess brewpub downtown, but still no problem getting beer and good service. Had to stop since this is supposed the Dusseldorf landmark. Glad I did, beer was excellent. It never stops to amaze me how here in Germany you can walk up to a table on the patio, get a beer, and pay without even saying a word.

I tried to hit every Altbier pub on our weekend visit, but this was the one I kept coming back to. The beer was the reason. This place was packed to the gills and choked with smoke like all the others, thanks to a hockey game, a boat show, and lord knows what the hell else was going on in town. But once I’d had the bitterest beer in the Altstadt, I had to keep popping in for one more glass. Very refreshing. I’d love to get back here on a weekday, maybe, so I could sit down with friends and have a session.

This was the landmark Dusseldorf stop I finally had to make after visiting the city over a handful of times, never quite making it down to Uerige. The place was busy on a Saturday evening, big huge party in the streets of the altstadt, livers highly swollen, and a beautiful waterway running through town, nice large architectural tower to enjoy. Uerige is a great social place to talk with locals and other travellers passing through the town. Service was friendly, the beer hoppy, yet the server said there was no way to get the Doppelsticke, hadn’t been brewed for a while there (essentially retired, he said). Odd, since I can still get bottles back home in the bottleshop (contract brewed?). So much for the idea of getting the Sticke or Doppelsticke on draft while there in the summer. A great way to cap your tour of Dusseldorf and altbiers, but you better like hops, a hoppy interpretation to altbiers!
