| CanIHave4Beers (54), Des Moines, Iowa | | December 30, 2008 In dubuque there is this little jingle that this store plays on the radio. Perhaps some of you from Northeast Iowa know what I am talking about. Every time I walk in the door the little jingle goes off in my head and I am 21 again. During my stint in Dubuque this is where I bought almost all of my booze, and I love this place. That said it does have some drawbacks The beer selection is fairlly rotating and you get the idea that they are kind of pointing blindfoldedly at a catalouge of beers. This works out quite well sometimes and other times no. I have gotten semi rare dogfish heads, thomas hardy ale, many belgians, and plenty of interesting micros here. The beer section is very cramped and sort of weird to move around in. The staff is always pretty awesome, but they are not really there to help you with beer selection. | | heemer77 (171), Savannah, Missouri | | October 8, 2008 I had visitied this place many times in the past because they always had a couple of beers that one could not buy at Family Liquor. However, I visited again recently and they had easily doubled to tripled their already good beer selection. They have gotten more WI micros as well as numerous other US micros. They have a decent singles selection along with lots of beer in coolers. Solid and actually, I would just as soon visit here before Family Liquor now, if I had time to visit only one store. However, they don’t have the singleing of any beer policy, and fewer German and Belgian brews. Stop in next time you drive across the US 20 bridge, you should be pleased. |
