71 reviews for Holiday Wine Cellar
| NEA (10), California | | August 7, 2009 This is the place to be in North county for a great selection of beer and wine | | BMan1113VR (108), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas | | July 26, 2009 Very, Very solid bottle shop. Good parking, nice location. Pretty much every good beer you could ask for in SoCal, and then some. Helpful staff. Also one of the best collections of meads/real ciders that I have seen in southern California. I will return. | | theisti (114), Leawood, Kansas | | July 6, 2009 Visited during my family vacation to San Diego - hit this up between the Wild Animal Park and a visit to Stone. The store is a 70’s chalet style storefront on a busy corner in Escondido. The beer is given its own corner, and the selection is just breath taking. So Cal local micros are covered, and an extensive import list - particularly German. They really had everything I could imagine, plus a bunch of really rare stuff that I had never seen on shelves before. The staff was super helpful, and pulled some additional beers out for me they knew I would like. Certainly in the top tier of bottle shops I have visited. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 1, 2009 I was quite surprised with how small the beer section actually is in this store, but one needs to understand that what is in the fridge complements what is in the small corner aisles. Still, it was half a kilometer away from our hotel and while I certainly did not encounter westys, I found the type of stuff I was looking for: Lost Abbey Cuvee de Tomme, Brother Levonian, Carnevale etc. For So.Cal. offerings, I guess this covers its territory pretty well, including rarer breweries like Lightning or Coronado. The service was also totally fine, asking us twice if we needed anything, found what we were looking for, you can’t ask for much more than that. | flutetokill (5), Fresno, California does not count - explanation | | July 1, 2009 WOW! I was like a kid in a candy store. Amazing selection. Spent WAY too much, but I just couldn’t help myself. When I’m in the area, I will be back to stock up. | | sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | May 20, 2009 Place looks much smaller from outside.
Nice and clean inside, friendly and professional staff, and some amazing beers at great prices.
This is one stop you can’t miss when in northern San Diego area.
Beer heaven for people from the East coast, they have anything you could dream of.
Must visit in Escondido, before a run to Stone. | | DuffMan (96), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta | | January 15, 2009 Crazy spot for the full gamut of California micros, PLUS hard-to-find quality beers from all over the U.S and from around the world. We came back 3 times during our stay and bought a ton of stuff and didn’t even begin to make a dent in the amazing stock of beers here. Incidentally the wine selection is smaller but all quality too. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Just got word that they ship to most states now too (...now if they would only ship to Canada...). | | footy (11), scottsdale, Arizona | | December 20, 2008 Best place in So. Cal that I have found. Great Selection of well kept and hard to find beers. Also excellent service. | | JohnC (99), Mission Viejo, California | | November 21, 2008 Great selection of beers tucked away in a small place. If I’m in the area, I always stop in. | | Sparky27 (16), Phoenix, Arizona | | November 19, 2008 Google Maps took me on a wild goose chase for this place. Started off at the Escondido BevMo and must have drove around for an hour before I found it. Great selection of hard to find beers. I’ve never seen so many Fuller’s Vintage Ales of various years in one place before. Prices seemed very reasonable for what I bought. Friendly staff. Nice place. Just call for directions (or use the map to the right) and forget Google. |
