| jerc (143), Toronto, Ontario | | December 1, 2009 Went a few weeks back on a Tuesday afternoon. They had a snacks menu at the time, I enjoyed a serving of toasty bread and goat cheese (yumm!) that was delicious but a bit hard on the teeth. Went through the range. The Pommee was possibly my favorite of the lot! I just really liked it. The barleywine was different but quite pleasant. I found most of the beers to be a little bit ’different’, which worked for some and not for others. Beautiful space, they have done a great job with the decor. Pleasant waitress insisted she didn’t speak much English but her English was a lot better than my French so it worked out. Working through a 12 beer sampler took some time! | | LadySusan (77), Ste-Therese, Quebec | | November 19, 2009 First off the outdoor look, it is in an old building great.then you go in it is spacious and you get a nice friendly greeting. The menu is pub like put more refind, good food. The beer selection is very good. The service is excellent. We got a tour of the place by the owner, very interesting. I wish this place was closer to my home. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | October 23, 2009 New and attractive venue, filling a big gap in Outaouais and deservedly popular it seems. Enormous historic building is spectacular in every sens of the term. Large terrace by the river which used to host a mill, beautiful private room, classy furniture and decorum. Lovely place that manages not to get too loud. If there’s anything I don’t like, it’s the bar area with its insistent lighting, but this is a superficial personal preference. Lots of staff who is actively seeking for thirsty souls and offers a good service although it took quite a while for us to receive the food we’d ordered. Nevertheless, when it arrived, it was most satisfying. When we were there, they had 5 of their own beers, all of very good quality, pushing classic styles boundaries a little further while the smaller beers were particularly fresh and vibrant. Excellent guest taps on offer on our visit and I guess this is the norm. They had a rare keg of charlevoix brut for instance. | | MartinT (348), Montreal, Quebec | | October 16, 2009 [ Updated November 25, 2009 ] This new brewpub is big, bold and beautiful. The historic building and its remodeled interior are jaw-dropping gorgeous. You have to see it to believe it; there are so many aspects that make it unique. The terrasse overlooking the water is also very nice, especially with that forged iron bridge in the background. The beers brewed here are already super professional and all very drinkable. The winter lineup is especially saliva-inducing with their spicy Christmas Belgian-style Strong Ale, Imperial Stout, Barley Wine and Double IPA sometimes all at the same time on the menu! The food menu is at once adventurous and familiar, adding a customized twist to habitually simple meals. Prices are a bit steep, but you have to pay for what surrounds you, not just what’s in your plate and glass, after all. This place is quickly one of the best in Quebec. | | beermagnet (14), Quebec | | September 29, 2009 [ Updated October 1, 2009 ] love the place, its the place for great microbrew beer in the region. they are sometimes not too fast with the food but they are getting there, and who cares because they are a micro-brew and the beer is great | | cfrancis (20), Gloucester, Ontario | | September 18, 2009 This place is awesome. A heritage building that has been completely overhauled. If you go in as a group, you can have a tap at your table where you pay per ounce!! What an awesome idea. Food was very good and the beer was great. Hope to convince my wife to go back for dinner again. | | MrManning (48), London, Ontario | | September 14, 2009 Had lunch here with brewer Larry Kress. A large and beautiful brewpub along quaint creek. Modern facilities and are impressive. Large open kitchen with huge dining room and a spiraling pathway that goes down to the actual brewhouse, which is visible through glass walls. There is a large patio outside which overlooks the creek and there is a VIP room downstairs that is equipped for business meetings and wedding parties alike. Service was excellent. I had a cheese platter so I won’t rate the food, but the platter was well priced and very generous in portion size. Beer here is very good. I tried all the beer and had seconds of the Pied du Courant. An absolute must visit for anyone in the area. | | Boutip (33), Gatineau, Quebec | | September 13, 2009 Beautiful brewpub located in an old hydro-electricity plant with great view on the river. This place is huge with an area where you can easily view the brewing area, a large bar area and a super big patio with a great view. Selection of 13 taps alternate between brewpub offering and some great QC micros. Service was not all that good in the beginning but management seem sot have work on the kinks. I haven’t taste the food already so I can’t really comment. The location is close to downtown and easily accessible and parking can easily be find anywhere close to the building. Definitely a place I will revisit in the future. | 09maso3 (3), vancouver, British Columbia does not count - explanation | | September 13, 2009 This place was a really find. Not far from the city center, they have a great selection of there own beers as well as other micros from around Quebec and ontario. We sat outside and it was a while before we were served. But its a big place and was busy (saturday night). Once we were served though everything came relatively quickly and the waiter was kind and knowledgeable about the beers. The beer was simple but good. This place has just opened maybe in the future they will expand the selection. What we had though was solid with the possible exception of the raspberry ale. That being said, ive never had a raspberry beer that ive enjoyed (nevertheless they seem to be very popular right now) the food was good (especially the tapas) and they don’t skimp on the serving. The ambiance was nice and overall we had a great time, i will visit it again, when i am next in ottawa. | | Sammy (275), Toronto, Ontario | | June 28, 2009 [ Updated June 29, 2009 ] This brewpub is a unique and large place, just outside of downtown Ottawa. For the summertime, it is a must stop as there are many tables, room for more than 100 outside. Inside is a bit smaller in relationship, and I am told can get very crowded. Service was attentive but because we arrived just after opening on a Sunday and it only become moderately busy afterward and they were not smiling inside, and outside got beers mixed up consistently. Food, as tried by my party, was above average to good. The home brew is average, although shows promise for the furture with higher abv choices I was shown in a tour. There is also a private party space for rental that borders on a natural bit of water, with Canadian geese and the like, it is all very pretty. The bar is hand carved and very pretty. Great guest taps, most of which will be taken over by what will be host brewed. Prices are a bit expensive for Ottawa, but less than Toronto, and big US cities. |
