| dm9831 (30), Monee, Illinois | | October 20, 2009 nice place. great service with a nice selection of draft. they had both devil dancer 2008 and 2009, do it was vital for me and my friends to do verticals of my favorite beer. part of a michigan brewery tour with rayboy01 devon mike and bryan. | bigmak (3), New Hudson, Michigan does not count - explanation | | August 15, 2009 The best brewery in the state. Beers you cannot get anywhere else. Sandwiches are the best. I am there every time I am in GR. | | Sammy (273), Toronto, Ontario | | August 6, 2009 With Founders and Hopcat in walking distance, Grand Rapids is solidly on the map as a go-to place. Beautiful place, with light everywhere, a good temperature, a friendly gang to serve, and of course outstanding beer. I had, and had to have, four aged barrelled beers on tap. Need another reason to visit? Also, had a chance to try a fifth barrelled beer not on tap. Not overwhelming in the bottle department, I found harder to get bottles in some of the stores. | | dmschefke (34), Eastpointe, Michigan | | August 4, 2009 Stopped in here and what a nice place! Atmosphere is great, great clean place with awesome decorations, wood everywhere and a world class bar area. I saw over 1100 mug club members. Nice patio area. Didn’t have any food, but it looked and sounded good. They also had 7 BIG beers on tap (BA, special releases, etc) in addition to their normal fare. Definitely a place I would be more than happy to go to again! | | markwise (56), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida | | July 26, 2009 Definitely a must-see. They have several barreled and exclusive beers. People are VERY friendly and attentive, beers are superb, and so is the food. Prices are on par with the quality of beer. Very inclusive and inviting. My only complaint was that they did not have CBS or other very exclusive beers, but that means I have to come back again. Oh darn. Great ambiance and good parking. I will be back anytime I am within three states. | | mages64 (10), | | July 23, 2009 Great ambiance. Obscenely good beer! some good sandwhiches and snacks. Peanuts are the main food. Great bands play here occasionally. Very professional bar staff who know their stuff. Lots of guys who want to wax eloquent about beer. Kind of cliquey but who cares. Best beer In Grand Rapids. | | aaaaaaaaaah (14), Warren, Michigan | | July 17, 2009 Favorite brewery thus far. Huge bar, lots of great beers on tap. Superb sandwiches. Big windows and lots of seating. Nitrogen beers on tap as well. Tried all of the beers on tap, all of them were good, most of them were great, 2-3 superb. | | jeffmw (14), | | July 17, 2009 Perhaps this was because we got the "special treatment" but I can’t imagine a brewery experience that would be better. We arranged ahead of time on our beer tour and Founder Dave Engbers gave us a personal tour of the brewery and then sat with us for a good hour or so after with us, drinking and talking the buisness. It was very generous of him and very, very cool. The beer was spectacular. Everything we had was even better on tap than it has been in the bottle when I’ve had it before. Unfortunately they had run out of the Canadian Breakfast a few days before, but the Kentucky Breakfast was superb. The Maple Brown was one of the best beers I’ve ever had - no joke. It was definitely the highlight of our 3-day trip. | kazooka (2), Kalamazoo, Michigan does not count - explanation | | June 16, 2009 Nice place with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Garage doors separating outdoor picnic seating area for smokers and outdoorsy types from the large indoor seating area. Cheap snacks, appetizers, and sandwiches available. I didn’t try the food, so it could be great! Nice selection of beers that are not obtainable outside this venue. 10 or 11 taps available if I remember correctly. The renowned KBS available on tap as well as some other specialty ales: CBS and BBA Imperial Stout with others. Large glass window separates the brew cafe from the brew equipment with a sort of stage area and curtains to cover for live music which appears regularly from the posters up on the walls. A single pool table, clean bathrooms. Weekday specials available. I like it here. Would visit again. | | MrBunn (53), Western, Pennsylvania | | June 15, 2009 Stopped in on my way up North and couldn’t be more pleased with the place. If there were a brewery like this every 50 or so miles across the country, we could end our reliance on antidepressants, fix the economy and possibly have world peace. The place is a modern looking factory type setting with tall ceilings and lots of light and air coming in through the open patio doors. Service was delightful and selection was truely impressive. I can’t wait to get back. |
