| bigtaster (24), Grand Rapids, | | July 25, 2009 Nice little place just north of downtown. Irish style pub with a good selection of Michigan micro’s and many others. Inviting with a friendly staff. Wish it was downtown but definitely worth stopping by. | | drunkysersose (11), Michigan | | April 19, 2009 Pretty cool place in a pretty uncool part of town. At least the parking is adjacent to the bar and you don’t need to pack heat while walking to and from the door. A little smokey for my taste. Nice outdoor patio for the warmer months. I had a BLT sandwich that could have been served in a high school cafeteria. Beer selection should satisfy most beer lovers. Worth a visit if you are in the immediate area, not bothered by smoke and want pub grub. | | Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | July 4, 2008 A nice English style pub with a pretty kick-ass beer selection. Located off center in a rather ugly industrial area this is neighbourhood pub. Atmosphere is pretty laid back and the division between the tables means that this is not a place to mingle with everybody else. Go to Logan’s Alley if you feel social. Tap selection is rather large. About 30 taps going from the boring (Stella Artois, Boddington and such) to the more interesting (Stone Arrogant Bastard, Lagunitas Imperial Red, Dogfish 90 minutes, etc.). Nothing rare or unusual but you’ll find 5 or 6 items you’ll want to drink on tap. I had a disappointing pint of New Holland Night Tripper. They cask a different beer every Thursday and when it’s gone it’s gone. I was there on a Sunday night and they had no more (it would have been Dragonhead Woody’s Perfect Porter). So if you want some cool taps go there on a Thursday or Friday. Rather large bottle section too but again nothing off the beaten path, all the classic beers from the classic breweries available in Michigan. | Tydeone (1), Niles, Michigan does not count - explanation | | May 1, 2008 Friendly local english pub. Very good selection. Have a 5 oz. taste option on all of the beers. | kieleszd (8), Grand Rapids , Michigan does not count - explanation | | April 8, 2008 An English Indian Pub with great variety and food. Home to many great MI beers and the best pastys I’ve ever eaten. This pub stocks beer from all over the world and is in a class above many. Service was a little slow, but order a pitcher and its never quicker. | | Silphium (50), Haslett, Michigan | | December 26, 2007 Cozy little bar in Grand Rapids. Features 34 beers on tap and dozens (perhaps over 100) bottles, including many Michigan micros and imports. Recent offerings included Stone 11th Anniversary, Great Lakes Nosferatu, and Bell’s Barrel-aged Batch 7000, among many other top-notch beers. Interesting menu featuring UK and Indian cuisine I had the cheese and sausage tray (complete with bangers and Yorkshire pudding!), and many of the other appetizers are not typical brewpub fare. Nice atmosphere, good service. This is a cool little hang-out. |
