For the Houston area, Spec’s is the largest and best selection of beers. Texas has weird liquor laws and has limited distribution which tends to keep a lot of good beers out of Texas.

Visited in August, and was in the neighborhood yesterday so I just had to drop by and browse. Decent size store with a deli and liquor but I was only there for the beer. They do sell singles, which is always a plus. Decent prices on items, and the employees are helpful enough- but some of them completely lack any basic beer knowledge. Good store for beer- but if you have been to one Spec’s, you really essentially have been to them all.

Good selection of beers. I wish they had some of the bigger Texas beers (St. Arnolds Divine series). Employees were very helpful even calling other stores looking for beer they were out of.

One of the best selections in Austin. Well organized. They also sell single 12oz bottles. Great cheese & gourmet food section, too. Occasionally you’ll find something unique.

Been to the Clear Lake Specs and the Smith Street one. why the westheimer location is the main entry is beyond me. ..Has the best beer selection in Houston, always some one to help you,.. prices are about normal for most things. worth the trip to the downtown location and if in the area, the clear lake store is ranked 2 or 3 in beer selection..

The downtown Houston Spec’s at 2410 Smith St. has the largest beer selection of the stores I’ve visited. The best beer selection in town. They even had a couple Avery beers that I’d never seen up in the Dallas area (Samael’s and Mephistopheles’).
