11 reviews for Michael’s Jewish Delicatessen and Restaurant
| watson1977 (10), , Pennsylvania | | January 19, 2009 while this is not a place i like to go to for a sit down meal, the sandwiches are excellent. i generally order a turkey reuben to go and browse the nice bottle selction while i wait. all of the usual suspects are offered as well as a nice import selection and the occasional hidden gem. prices are fair enough and it is worth stopping there if you are in the area. | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | February 12, 2008 My hotel was nearby, so I thought I would swing in. This is a typical mom and pop place, with beer (and other shit) on one side and the restaurant on the other. The singles are nicely displayed in the coolers, and you build your own six (or buy singles). Prices are not quite as bad as others lead you to believe. I found them to be slightly above average for PA. I bought a Pizza Port Santas Little Helper for $10. That is the same price as Capone’s and cheaper than the Foodery. Even thought the bottles are nicely displayed, I would check dates on some bottles. I suspect they don’t move beer as fast as some of the better know shops. If you have the time, Capone’s is about 10-15 minutes away and has a better selection. But if you are in King of Prussia and just want a six for the hotel room, give this place a try. | | pineypower (19), Pine Barrens, New Jersey | | November 22, 2005 Been here o so many times. Hard to actually buy stuff here due to the prices, but its good to try out before buying a whole case like you have to in PA. The selection is vast, but not of great beers. They do have a lot of beer, but a lot of it is very marginal beer and its very over priced. The food is pretty decent if you need something kinda late in this area since the whole damn town shuts down at 7pm. I’ll go here if its the last choice. | | michael-pollack (71), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania | | August 31, 2005 [ Updated February 3, 2009 ] Good Jewish deli. Very good food. A reasonably priced (for PA), nice bottle selection. | | stegosaurus (34), Levittown, Pennsylvania | | July 15, 2005 [ Updated March 15, 2007 ] expensive, but i wouldn’t mind if they had all the beers they listed on there web site, the site lists beer they have had in the store at one point, that dissapointed to me, dont get me wrong they have a good selection but i know of 2 places closer to me with more. i also have never tasted the food, i only went there because i seen them on this web site, then checked their web site. | Ponchodan (5), Yukon does not count - explanation | | May 2, 2005 If the selection here was a bit better, it might soften the blow of having to pay at least twice as much for your beer as you would elsewhere. Weak selection and totally outrageous prices = me never going back again. | Schooly (2), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2005 Good selection, however because of this, beers stay on the shelves more than they should. I bought a bottle of UniBroue Trios Pistoles (the corked size!) I got it home opened it (no pop :-[), completely flat, saw the date and it expired the day before! I suspect it was flat long before that (thought belgians aged well...). I should have looked before purchasing. Oh well, buyer beware! | | DocLock (108), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania | | September 9, 2004 A decent beer selection, but I’m not fond of the prices here. I have not had the food, so i can’t comment on that. I’ll probably skip this place in the future. | | egajdzis (35), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania | | August 30, 2004 Selection is on the decline now that the beer man has been fired. SErvice is spotty, their beer guy was fairly knowledgeable until he was fired. Selection is not bad, however when you live around the blcock from the place, it gets old fast. I have no need for this place anymore. | | Nate (194), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | August 29, 2004 I hit this place a couple of times when I was in the area interviewing. For PA, it has a decent selection, better than what I could find in State College. But their prices are ridiculous - single bottle prices in the Philly area. |
